From your link:

'Amends the Clerks of the Court Act. Provides that filing fees for a petition for change name may not exceed $25, and the court may waive this fee for good cause shown.'

'Deletes the requirement that a petitioner must reside in the State for 6 months before the petitioner may file a petition under the Article'

'Allows a petitioner to request that the court file be impounded if public disclosure may be a hardship and have a negative impact on the petitioner's health or safety'

'Repeals the requirements to publish a notice of a petition to change a name'

So Illinois is about to let illegals change their name:

For free
With no residency checks
In complete secrecy

If I were an illegal in, say, one of the Southern states I'd be headed to Illinois right now.

Does an illegal immigrant have the legal ability to change his name? Does that make them more, less or even completely legal?

Can I just blow people's minds and say if you're an illegal immigrant, you can just make up any name you want.

The Illinois bill first passed back in April 2024 mostly based on transgender/sexual abuse victims concerns. But Illinois rightly realizes that undocumented immigrants contribute massively to the US economy. Undocumented workers make up 17% of construction workers, 25% of agricultural workers, 19% of maintenance/building cleaning workers, and 12% of food industry workers; they pay billions in taxes but don’t receive any social service benefits.

Everyone knows this, including Trump, who likely employs several at one of his many casinos/restaurants, etc. But Trump needs to play to his xenophobic base, which strangely includes a weirdo from Scotland (not JJ :) ) who likely hasn’t ever stepped foot in the USA.

And it goes without saying that the number of undocumented workers showing up at a courthouse and actually doing this is pretty much nil.

So what you are saying is that illegals could have done this now, they'd just not wait the six months?

edit: oh, and its not "complete secrecy"
