I'm a white man in my mid-50s who has lived his entire life in a conservative state of the United States. I honestly cannot imagine there are many women in this state who have not needed abortion services for themselves, their sister, their cousin, their daughter, their co-worker, or their neighbor. In many cases, to save their lives or long-term health.

If people like @emir would open their eyes and recognize that by the actions he approves of being taken he is dooming women to die, women whose fetus they hoped to grow into a child they would love but, sadly, will not I might have some hope honest conversation would happen. But I do not have such hope and it is almost a cause for despair. But I'm a yeehaw Texan and I don't play that crap. I fight. And @emir's 'kin fake-ass Christian ass is going to lose.

”Precious life” but woe betide that same precious life if in a couple of decades it decides that it disagrees with your interpretation of when life begins - it must be forced against its will to carry a pregnancy to term because doesn’t that just show how much you care…

As absurd as that sounds, there are probably a lot of the top of that party who do think that - that now this emotive issue that has driven the radicalization of the party has been "won", the loons will run back to the fringes and swamps leaving the proper people in charge.

It is phenomenally naive, but that doesn't mean they don't believe it.
