22 Avengers movies since what, 2008?

73 Episodes of GoT since 2010.

Watching every Avengers movie would take around 20 fewer hours than watching every GoT episode.

There's a difference between TV series and films though. 22 Movies in 11 years is overkill. The best thing about good movies is the syspence in waiting ages for the next one.

The Night King was the ultimate koppite. Probably thought it was in the bag and was everyone's favourite character. But all the good guys hated that he had pushed over the wall and bought his dodgy friends from the far north on his budget airline/ dragon to experience a magical European away day. Even arranged pyro for the team's arrival at the opposition stadium. But just as he was about to complain about someone in a handicap spot taking his spot, he slipped and did a total fanta scruff.

Don't win nowt until winter's over NK. But the knife was only mm inserted, biased media, etc. Off you trot Night King.

You've really thought about this deep haven't you? ha ha ha ha :D

I must admit, I didn't have Arya down as Messi. And after some of those dozy wights were definitely from the Lovren, Matip and VVD school of 'observation is interaction' zonal defending.

This guy sums up the issues that most of us nerdy book readers had with that episode. Absolutely hilarious visceration. (warning for the sensitive, plenty plenty swears)

It's well worth watching it all.

I agree with every single point made in that video.

It's not that the episode "let down the nerdy book readers". The criticism isn't "hilarious". The video quite rightly points to the positives (individual acting performances, excellent cinematography - when it could be seen - and sumptuous use of music) as well as the negatives.

The episode was possibly the worst written one in the history of GoT, for all the many and varied reasons details very accurately in the video. Being so badly written mean that it failed at the one thing it had perfect in the first four seasons: telling a riveting story.

I enjoyed the episode for its good points. It was very poor because of its bad points. I actually hope that someone comes along in ten years (after the final books have been done) and re-shoots season five onwards.

It will be interesting to see what next week's viewing figures look like.

Which is exactly what book readers have been complaining about being let down by since season 4 or 5.

I've simply learnt to enjoy the book and show as very separate things for a while now and refuse to get too bothered by the show "not being thematically correct" or whatever people like to moan about. As you say, recently it has just been downright dumb writing that has marred the show - with Grand Assassin Arya's magical leap being one of many very weird things they did last week.

I wonder if she'll get to kill the final boss too.

I've never watched it (Got series 1 on DVD and I'll give it a go at some point)

How is everyone enjoying this one? Is it delivering what you wanted?

started slowly but its got better , with huge twist in the last episode that no-one had predicted. its one of the only programmes that I literally cant wait for the next one to be aired

Can book readers be mad at an episode built on no book?
Yes, because the grumbling is not based on the fact that the plot wasn't derived from the books.

The grumbling is based on the fact that the basics of storytelling were repeatedly ignored in order to shoehorn in particular scenes for stupid reasons, and that the Stark - Targaeryan army made a ridiculous number of hugely stupid military decisions in the context of warfare using that level of technology, those types of troops and typical siege tactics.

Yes because it just got too silly.

I know "But dragons and ice zombies lul" but aside from the fantasy aspect there was always an air of realism.

Realism in terms of mistakes being punished. If someone effed up, they'd often pay for it, usually resulting in their shocking death (Ned, Oberyn). It gave a real sense of drama and tension.

Now as the video I linked points out, they have characters in deadly situations and then simply cut away to save them. Or one wight (of 8) is killed and all the others suddenly vanish.

It's just another fantasy show where the main characters have plot armour until they suddenly don't for shock value.

It's still fun mind.

THE most terrifying army the world has EVER seen. 8 seasons in the making.

And they lose in the first ACTUAL battle they are in.

Makes you wonder what the point of it all was.

And not for nothing, who thought that having 20k madmen on horses whooping and charging in to an unknown would be a good idea? They said it alllll last episode, it's a DEFENSIVE battle.

Those who say there was no military sense to that / those tactics do miss the point a bit.

I mean, if you were Sansa (or any of the Northern / Vale lords, including Jon) and you have insufficient supplies for winter and an ally who you know wants to impose their rule on you using troops that are either freed slaves or the best pillagers in the business (as well as dragons), who would you put in the front line, outside the walls nearly all your troops are behind?
