So the special Collymore did was nothing new...Aparantly everyone in the local press knew about it....
Then why was it not reported by a journalist at the paper, not some guest columnist aka Barry Horne

Is this radio city downie, someone else left standing by collymore?
I'm hoping the defensive stance of the local press alerts the nationals to the stories.Yup, it is. Other writers are now defending Collymore on Twitter. This will keep the story alive a little longer.

Knowing about it and actually DOING something about it are two entirely different things (as you know I'm sure ... not having a go at you just using your post as a launch point for a rant). Their argument is "oh we knew that already." That wasn't the point most of us were making. We had the 150m quote from a year or so ago as well. We ALL knew that already (although confirmation from two different sources is kind of a thing). So the special Collymore did was nothing new...Aparantly everyone in the local press knew about it....

Anyway ... what we want is some articles breaking down if that is remotely a reasonable asking price for the club.
All the points we always raise (the price paid/suggested for clubs like Newcastle or City), the viability of asking 125-150m for an entity that almost never turns a profit etc. etc.
That is what we'd like to see. We're not expecting then to have a front page headline every day with "Everton asking price 125m" just presented as a fact with no analysis of that at all. Dig into it. Find out something we don't know already. DO SOMETHING!
Call up people who have purchased clubs (or have been known to be interested) and ask (from their experience) if that seems like a reasonable price and if anyone would be interested. Would they (someone who wants to buy a football club) be interested at that price? Why not?
Christ there are LOTS of ideas I won't type them all. If the paper in the city concluded "that's double what anyone in their right mind would pay" and here is why (list of facts, interviews etc.) that would be genuinely newsworthy and useful to their readership.
No reasonable explanation for why they never did that other than being in the clubs pocket and/or massive incompetence/laziness.
Stan Collymore @StanCollymoreCollymore didn't uncover a lot more than we already knew. But what he did do is raise the issue to the rest of the country. It's helped raise awareness of the situation at Everton and why we are not happy just trotting along with no plan or sense of any realy direction, and that we are not David Moyes FC.
Well in Stan. He's done alright here.
What he got was concrete where as everything else was conjecture and chinese whispers.
They Echo journo's have now come on and said he's telling us nothing knew...yet are having a go at him and writing an article about it saying what Collymore said was conjecture...but then saying he spoke to someone at the club.
Someone's getting embarrassed by the whole thing.
Elstone needs to send up the bat signal here...
