Fellaini to Chelsea, says his Dad?

For some reason I can't see us getting any more than £35mil for him. It's going to be the summer not January and we'd need to sell early to buy new players to integrate. Would be pleasantly shocked if we got any more for him. Ideally though, new contract and he stays for donkeys years, I'd rather see Rodwell go than felli.

If so, then Sky Sports are equally lazy, as they've picked it up too.

No they haven't. All skysports have stated is that we're trying to offer him a new deal as we don't want to lose him. Nothing mentioned about his father or Chelsea.

While Moyes is determined to see Fellaini stay, the 23-year-old's father has hinted that a move to one of Europe's top clubs could soon be in the offing.

"The big clubs can see what a good job Marouane is doing and that is why Chelsea are following him intensively," said Abdellatif Fellaini.

"In his position he'd get into the starting XI at any big club."

I used to be confident that if we lost a player, Moyes would always get the best deal we could expect. Now clubs know we are potless and will use it against us. We've always been skint but never have we had to sell/loan our players out just to cover loan signings that don't actually materialise before.

erm ............. why not just get the full value that fellaini is worth IF..... IF.... IF.... IF......IF he does leave because its just idle speculation so i`ll speculate that chelsea want him so bad theyll pay us £90mil because he is proven in this league

Meanwhile, back on Earth... ;)

IMO minimum fee 60 mill, - clear our debts which in last a/cs stood at 48 mill and 17 mill to Moyes for new players. No room for sentimentality the survival of the club is more important than a player.

Make him Captain in the summer and offer him anything and everything. Sign one of his mates from Liege. Give out complimentary wigs to every fan every match day....

Rooney aside, the only player we've had in my generation of being potentially truly world class.

Which is why he'll go.

His dad already came out a few seasons ago saying his son belongs at a big club when some Chelsea transfer rumours were floating about. No surprised. Unless they're bringing up old news.

EDIT - seen post above. Move along

Not reading to much into this storey to be honest, the club mentions a new contract - journos get on to his dad/agent - get a leveraged quote from them - shock horror agent says big club are intrested in a good player right before negotiations.

Sadly we are in a situation, were something has to give and i think it will be Mofro or Rodwell if im honest. Not that i want either to be sold but it is the part of our squad where we have a fair bit of fat that could be trimmed and i think we will need to trim from a financial point of view. We have Arteta our biggest earner, Cahill who can play there, Heitinga, Billy, Rodwell and Mofro - not forgetting Barckley coming through. If the manure hits the fan and we need an injection of captial its either Mofro or Rodwell IMHO. Worryingly the Mofro article comes the same day that Ferguson says there is a player he is after for a while but wont be available untill the summer, when he will go in for them again - i think its a fair assumption it could well be Rodwell.

Sadly i dont think we will get much more then 30 mill for either, not because there not worth it but other clubs know what that level of finance means to us and will drive a hard bargain, we are a bit of a soft touch in this regard from a finacial point of view - we sold Rooney and Lescott for far less then they worth IMO and can see it happening again, our negotiateing position isnt the strongest.

I'd like to point one or two things out.

Due to the new financial regulations incoming - the days of Chelsea offering contracts their previous players have been on are over.

They wouldn't pay Pienaar the £75k he wanted. They only offered what Everton offered.

Ramierez is on £25k a week.

Chelsea's strategy is to reduce their wage bill. They can get away with salaries being big for players signed before June 2010 since they aren't included in the monitoring period.

However, ideas that Chelsea will offer mega wages for an entire team would be mistaken. As there is going to be a pressure downwards on wages very shortly.

That the likes of Chelsea etc will try and get round with 6 year contracts , but in offering those kind of deals they give themselves less room for maneuver if players get injured and or fail to live up to expectation.

As by chopping and changing, and bringing in these players, they could quite quickly end up with an three year crunch in funding that would see them out of Europe.

So basically, them offering big wages/big transfer fees will become increasingly risky for them.

They only did what they did this summer as they offloaded a significant number of players and intend to do so again over the next two windows.

However the scope of what they recoup - could be pressured due to the regulations too... downwards. So ultimately Chelsea's buying power (and the others like Man City and United) is very shortly going to be significantly ERODED.
