Everton Brands Appointment Confirmed

..I don’t think that confirms who instigated the Gomes signing. Brands says he “asked about Gomes” but that could well have been at Silva’s behest. Indeed, Brands goes on to say Silva knows him very well.

I think it’s safer to say all incomings/outgoings need to be authorised by both Silva and Brands. One or the other will clearly make the initial suggestion but the signings are a joint agreement and both should be accountable.
I dont think there's any doubt the sequence was: Brands enquiry > rebuff from Barcleona > Silva involvenent at Brands' instigation.

..agree, but i think Brands will generally make the initial enquiry regardless of who originally wanted the player.
In the case of Richarlison I think it's such an obvious connection to Silva that the manager HAS to have started the conversation about bringing him in, but enquiry level - yes, Brands first.

..I don’t disagree, it’s entirely likely that Silva told Brands he wanted Richarlison, but you blame Brands for bringing in an injured Gomes. I’m saying it’s entirely possible that Silva also asked Brands to enquire about Gomes.

I struggle to understand the debate, they are Everton players now, so we support them.

Only a curmudgeon cares who asked about signing a player and looks to "lay blame". Suggest we just support the team and stop insane arguments about trivia. When he/they are fit and only then, can we comment on their suitability.

Truth is we knew Gomes was injured and were prepared to sign him anyway, so in the opinions of our management team he must be worth it. Why not trust them with that?

Dave the only place there’s no doubt is in your mind
You and the rest of us have no firm information on how the deal progressed
Barca could have mentioned him first
Brands could have brought his name up
Silva could have mentioned him to Brands
We don’t know.

They are all decisions that Brands is accountable for. There's no question there. Brands is Silva's boss, he's the D of F, Silva is the coach. Simple as that.

That being said, Brands would be an idiot if he didn't sell the positive attributes of his manager and any connections they have at the club for our benefit.

It's not wham though. You can see that from Brands' own words. Gomes was his decision, just as Mina was.

No Dave, as above, Brands is 100% in charge of recruitment, he even appointed Silva, hes the head of the dragon.

He signed Gomes, Zouma, Mina, Rico, Bernie, Digne and Viginia, they are ALL his signings.
