Everton are small time...

People are pleased by the improvement after Unsworth has worked with the squad for 2 days. If you didn’t see an improvement in our performance last night then either you don’t understand football or you haven’t been paying attention this season.

He would be only become our permanent manager if he proves himself. There’s nothing ‘small time’ about making him permanent if he does well.

However, it’s massively ‘small time’ to not consider him permanently for fear of appearing ‘small time’!

I was answering your post about are we big time we have spent the fourth biggest transfer budget in the prem - any one coming in now will struggle with that squad so spending that amount no we are not small time pity we just got some players who play in the same place and about two good buys - I hope Unsy does well but I don't think a top manager can do much more with that unbalanced squad!
To spend that much and go backwards is down to koeman, and he has paid the price!
last night had glimpses of promise shots on goal corners high pressing football - we can hopefully get better!

The more shots on goal thing has been debunked. We had more against Lyon and Brighton.

It's not the point of the thread either

Sorry mate but it was basically funded by selling lukaku and you know not replacing him. If we spent that without selling I would go oh that's ambition but we didn't we sold to buy again. Small club 100000%

we spent more than 75 million do your maths!
oh and dont expect 15 million add ons as thats Rooney's wages for two seasons = 15 million!

One thing I will say is that our fan base seem very beholden to big names on here

Like, if someone has a "name" then they're automatically favoured above every other option

That probably is a bit "small time" to be honest. We have no faith in ourselves that we could produce a good manager from within our own ranks, like the mere possibility is completely beyond us and we need a big name to get starstruck over

Too much commonsense being said in this thread.

I don't mind the sentimentality but there should be a line between the footballing activity and the 'story' of the club.

Sentimentality should come in the form of Kenwright getting the boot and becoming life aficionado of Everton and he can spend an hour before the game telling some mega rich people from Asia in a box about the boys pen or other tripe.

All this Mr Chairman lovey dovey crap aswell. Dunc, Snods, Sharpie etc all say it, even Tony Bellew called him out after his fight, needs to be binned. The board should have no interaction with players other than a handshake after winning a cup. Or maybe hooking you up with a decent lawyer after you plow into some cyclists and a petrol pump, and then give you a contract extension for not seriously hurting someone.

We had the best goalkeeper in the world for a time, who'd probably be the best goalkeeper in the world right now if you brought him forward in time. The worlds best, number 1, no one can come close, and he offers his services in any capacity and get knocked back because he speaks his mind. Because some soft head can't handle some truth, it's pathetic.

I don't doubt that in his professional business Kenwright is probably a heartless get and in that world he's probably up their with the best. Heck look at the stories and background of Woods and his dealing. But this footballing world is completely different beast, yet they treat Everton as their little cuddly toy bear to reminisce and tell new friends how they own a football club.

I thought and hoped Moshiri would change that. Get some cold heartless corporate in to turn Everton into a well tuned business machine off the field and leave the footballing side alone, bar giving it the capital £££ required to get it right.

Maybe he'll do that one he's takes full control, if he takes full control? If Usmanov comes? If we ever get a stadium design? A spade into the ground?

Those 'soft heads' are unfortunately the corporations that may or may not invest many millions of pounds into a football club. Their image is affected by the public messages coming from their business associates. To get those big deals you can't have individuals upsetting people by not toeing the party line. That's just the way it is.

You genuinely would like us to copy something that has

Jesus Mary and Joseph.

I'm sorry mate, I'm going to have to back off here because I can't, and never will, understand this mentality.

I am not for one minute saying we should copy dortmund you utter chard!
I was merely pointing out that you were saying the likes of dortmund wouldnt be all cheesy and abit cringe if they hadent won anything for years, i was pointing out "the yellow wall" got formed during a time of 0 trophies in 10 years

It does, which is odd as Koeman has been booted out far quicker than I expected and you have to assume that is down to Moshiri. So why when he's been that ruthless with an under performing manager does he continue to employ an under performing Elstone and keep Kenwright hanging around.

At this point I can only assume that they have compromising pictures of Mosh getting ridden bareback by Fat Ali on his yacht.

I'm sure by now he's realised that Kenwright and Elstone are a big part of the problem and could end up costing him a wedge.

It's just how to dislodge dewey eyed Bill and Teflon Bob, with the least damage / money.

It's not just that mate , we've got the fan base but we're always getting let down, koeman demanding for sigurdson when he was open to leaving swansea and then not prioritising a striker and running into swansea hands . They should have bid for sigurdson then walked away signed a striker then go back for sigurdson at the end

Stopped reading at "utterly useless Rooney".

Top scorer mate.

What an impressive boast that is in the current team, just 1 ahead of a man that's played a quarter of the minutes that Rooney has had.

Lost count of how many times I've watched him half lay off a pass that's too short.

I don't think that's what he was saying mate.

The way I read it, he wasn't saying that Dortmund fans are only like that because they're winning stuff, but that it's ok to be all sentimental if you're winning stuff. I agree with that view personally, telling the players and managers how much you love them and having mutual love ins at the end of games is great if they're doing the business on the pitch. If not, then I don't particularly want a nice lovey relationship with them, because they're not doing what I want them to do.
