Everton are small time...

After Koeman I'm happy for a bit of sentimentality.

But that example you gave had nothing to do with sentimentality - that's just the excuse. Just like signing Martina that decision came down to nothing but cold hard cash.

The thing with Kenwright, is that's it's been non stop sentimentally since he's been involved with the club hasn't it ?.

He's like the boss at work, that wants to be everyone's friend, but doesn't command any respect as a result.

I didn't write it off as their reserves but people seem to fail to acknowledge that probably 6 of their starting 11 aren't regular starters and have gone off like we've just narrowly lost against a team of world beaters.

Of course we didn't play their strongest team, but we had a pretty experimental line up out there too considering what we've been used to this season. We lost narrowly against a team still much, much better than us on paper.

I found Unsworths indifference to getting beat a right turn off. It seems everyone else found him a breath of fresh air. I actually despair at the amount of tweets I've seen of blues calling for him to get the full time job after a 2-1 loss.
Ok... let's not twist the narrative here.

He stated several times that he was unhappy that we lost but was pleased with the commitment. How on earth does that make him 'indifferent'? He still wasn't satisfied with the result..

The hard fact is this - at this current point in time Unsworth is the right choice to head the team. His chances of landing the gig permanently are slim, understandably, but until we secure the next man to lead the charge (a top quality one, you'd hope) then we need to get behind him and the team, for once.

Why lets get another prima donna in Koeman style - blows the massive transfer budget on abject performances with a team playing dire football!
Give Unsy a chance FGS!
Like other bottom half teams do?

Name the last caretaker manager employed full time that actually did a good enough job in the premier league to not only be kept on but improve results long term?

In fact name one . And whilst you are there find the last time a succesful club did that

It's a fair point and I didn't make the thread to have a go about the teams performance last night, nor necessarily about the reaction to the result, it just highlighted other stuff that's been going on for years that I wanted to mention.

spending 100 million plus is not small time and who ever get the manager's job has to work with the same players till January if you think getting a big name manager now can make a massive difference ????
unsworth has a month to get team sprit and belief in the squad he has one game on give him a chance!

Point me to where I said I'm not giving him a chance Joseph, fairly sure I said I hoped he did well, but create your own angry narrative if you please.

It's all true to be fair. A soft, defeatist mentality still runs through the club.

did I say give the job to U nsy full time - no our best bet is for him to get the team spirit back - and play more adventurous football and hopefully get a few wins under our belt, the doom mongers are at it again!

It does, which is odd as Koeman has been booted out far quicker than I expected and you have to assume that is down to Moshiri. So why when he's been that ruthless with an under performing manager does he continue to employ an under performing Elstone and keep Kenwright hanging around.

At this point I can only assume that they have compromising pictures of Mosh getting ridden bareback by Fat Ali on his yacht.

There is far too much sentimentality that surrounds the club. And this has really come to the fore during the years with BK as head honcho, the biggest sentimental Evertonian of them all.

Co-incidence? I doubt it.

If we really want to be a big, successful club again this sentimental nonsense needs binning off straight away. For starters, look to the future, not the past.

It's like some hold up the EITC stuff as somekind of badge of honour. I don't. It's smalltime. The only honours I'm interested in are those silver things a captain lifts above his head when you win a competition.

I was answering your post about are we big time we have spent the fourth biggest transfer budget in the prem - any one coming in now will struggle with that squad so spending that amount no we are not small time pity we just got some players who play in the same place and about two good buys - I hope Unsy does well but I don't think a top manager can do much more with that unbalanced squad!
To spend that much and go backwards is down to koeman, and he has paid the price!
last night had glimpses of promise shots on goal corners high pressing football - we can hopefully get better!

Why mate?? In my opinion it's a massive risk!! Why give someone the chance to manage Everton who has got no 1st team managerial experience whatsoever. Managing the under 23s he has zero pressure on him and will have the respect of every player under him.. different ball game managing these big money signings from different countries (who don't give a hoot about Everton)

I like Unsworth and if he was given the job I would love him to prove me wrong, I just don't see what he's done to warrant it? He's perfect at what he's doing now.
