Theylll lose some votes (a lot in some constituencies) over Brexit. But never believe the media vox pops. Ive lost count of them allowing the angriest to vent on camera. My guess is that the majority are too cowed to be seen opposing a no deal Brexit but will never vote for it.

Bear in mind also that in a GE campaign, Brexit will be a big issue, but so too will health, education, welfare, housing...all areas Labour voters in Leave areas KNOW they'll see further deterioration in if Johnson gets elected. No one is fallng for him and the likes of Rees-Mogg to open the purse strings on public spending.

I'm convinced the pro-no deal brexit parties will get no more than 40% of the vote combinbed...and that'll be pushing it. The opposition parties will get a huge majority when their constituencies are pooled together.

I don't think they will - any General Election campaign by Labour is going to point out how false, how damaging this reduction of people's political views to LEAVE and REMAIN is, as if they have no other thoughts. The Tories, BP and Lib Dems will all go the other way, which will result in Labour being the only party that actually talks about those other issues in a credible way (the Tories will talk about them too of course, but its hard to say you are taking education seriously when you've been in charge of it for nine years).

A GE the one they have been begging for?.......they are FRIT........

They want one as soon as the cliff edge is out of the picture, and it will help their polling that Johnson has shown up to be a fraud by that point. But yeah, seasoned political machines are 'frit' rather than canny.

And you know, like with Pete, it's worth pointing out that Corbyn likely isn't reading this thread, so your posturing and calling him names isn't going to help bring that GE about.

TBH @Joey66 isn't calling Corbyn names, he is just doing his usual thing of reading someone else calling Corbyn names and repeating it on here.

When your opponent starts playing the man rather than the ball, it's always a good position to be in.

It's all very similar to the press review when it discussed the S** take on things.

This is going to be a problem for the Tory/ Brexit Party fanatics.

They think they have disaffected Labour voters around the north in the bag.

They need to think again.

When faced with the prospect of the most right wing government in our history for five years, I am willing to bet commonsense and self interest will kick in throughout our post industrial heartlands.

To quote @Joey66 ......they will take one look at a government made up of Patel, Gove, Javed, Leadsom and the Moggster and they will be FRIT

I am really looking forward to the November election :)

It does work both ways though, moderate Tories in the south may see Corbyn as a bridge too far and vote for the Conservatives instead of a protest Liberal vote this time. Tbh I can't see the landscape changing too much. The SNP will mop up the Scottish Tory seats, that will probably balance out the gains they make in Brexit voting Labour areas, Liberal will probably take 10-20 or so from both.

1)And I'll repeat my question, how will an election help things? 2) What if it produces another hung parliament? 3) What if a 'remain coalition' win your election? Both of those things seem a distinct possibility.
1)It won't (might not) really, thats always been one of my points.

2) A hung Parliament / no working majority, might let in the Lib - Dems as power brokers. But they've already been in with the Tories, they are after all, only tory-lite. Would their supporters view their vote as a wasted vote if there was a chance they'd have to go in with Labour.

3) - The Prologue; The one thing stopping Brexit was the majority of remainers in Parliament, not the deal(s) to leave.

3) The Election has yet to be called, but what if Labour and the Lib-Dems, secretly, quietly or, hopefully, openly, agree a remain stance / pact - grasp the political nettle / hot potato etc and admit to the voters that 52% or not, Brexit is to all intents dead in the water, vote for us, reset the clock and stop the turmoil.

My opinion; When the question was remain or leave...nobody asked about the how to leave mind, just remain or leave - I was leave.
That said, I could live with option 3...the alternative is we collectively end up disappearing up our constitutional fundiment.
