Trusted to do what. Are you seriously suggesting that if he stood up in the HoC and named a date, with opposition parties already claiming that he would lie, and he then changed it that he would not suffer. If he named a date and didn’t carry it through even I wouldn’t vote for him.....
He's a proven, shameless liar. There was nothing he wouldn't do to get power, and now, having lost all of his votes in HOC and any semblance of credibility, he's doing nothing. Nothing in Parliament, nothing in Europe, nothing in Ireland. An utter fraud. He would still say/do anything to stay in power. Here's a phrase I never thought I'd say; well played Corbyn, you have him dangling.....

But I thought the EU were scared of no deal? I thought Boris said they would give us a great deal if they believed his threat of no deal?
Why do you read that comment and the first thing that comes into your head is point scoring?.

If Finland say no to an extension, which is their absolute right, then the UK leave the EU on a no deal basis on October 31st, irrespective of everything going through Parliament at the moment.

That's the problem with this country at the moment. Everybody is more focused on getting one over on the other side than doing what they should be doing, which is working together to find a solution to this mess which has to be a sensible softer Brexit agreement acceptable to all sides.

There is one ray of hope and that is the Kinnock amendment that sneaked through the "No deal" bill yesterday, which calls for Mays WA agreement, as amended, to be voted on again. I'm not saying it will get through as no doubt both sides will whip against it. But at least it shows that there are some sensible people in the Commons at the moment that are actually looking for a solution, rather than just stopping everything that crosses their path.

For anyone interested, as the High court dont televise their proceedings,

Joshua Rozenberg is live tweeting the Gina Miller Case, currently debating the key issues about Legality of Prorogation.

He is heading the opposition to a government run by May who spent 3 years making a pigs ear of Brexit. A government now run by Boris who has no majority and as Labour keep saying ‘no mandate from the people’. When would be a good time for Corbyn to have an election ? If we have one before the end of Oct then at least the people can decide. If he makes more feeble excuses and waits until after yet another extension is granted or even worse after the extension has run out, then fingers will not be pointed at Boris because people will at least know he tried but had his legs cut away. There is no benefit to be gained by Corbyn, because he will be on the hook for the mess, but what will be will be.....

Pete you are smarter than this and by posting the above it fuels why most of us think the leavers don't know what they are talking about. Take 5 minutes to think why the opposition don't want an election right at the moment and then you'll see it has nothing to do with Corbyn. The SNP would love an election to sweep up the Tory seats north of the border and yet they don't want one until the immediate threat of no deal has subsided either.

I have read quite a few books on Brexit, and the overriding theme was that when Theresa May went into the negotiations, she expected the EU would give her everything that was asked, it was a bit of a shock when they said no and by the way here is what we want.

Teresa May spent so much time in her political life treading between the cracks and being told what a great politician she was, that when she met the pros, reality set in and that point she probably realised the game was up and tried her best to fudge/blag it.

If any side comes out with any credit for preparing for and carrying out the negotiation it is the EU, no wonder leave voters like me feel that the deal was garbage, it could probably have been worse and they felt a bit sorry for us and let us off a few batterings (still think they got a bit of 'punishment' in btw).

27 countries agreed that whatever their team came back with then that was the deal, we are still squabbling over who our team should be and what we want to ask for.

Useless and amateurish from the get go.

Now we have a situation whereby has the government anticipated the moves by the opposition and have a nice October surprise waiting so that a no deal goes through by default, have the opposition realised this and have their own counter-moves ready like the levels of thinking in poker.

Or are they now stumped and not as clever as they all think they are.

My money is on the 2nd option.
The EU spent their time between the referendum and the start of negotiations organising themselves and coming up with an agreed strategy for the Brexit negotiations. We spent our time fighting futile court cases and organising general elections.

How can anybody be surprised at how things turned out.

I'd hardly call them futile.
