Exactly. The only way Farage cosies up to Johnson is if latter backs No Deal. If latter did that Tories would be toast.

Farage knows his strategy. He's dead set: from now until polling day he'll position himself as a responsible partner for a governing party...if that governing party had the courage of their convictions.

The Brexit Party can cement itself as a player in this election. Farage will be eyeing up the post Brexit deal landscape and looking to mop up all political ground on the centre-right. Johnson will be a useful idiot for him to exploit in the short term.

So what would your advice be to him Pete? You're implying that he's too cowardly to consent to an election, but also seem to agree that his numbers are terrible. So where's his winning move? And if he hasn't got one, then why should he play?

The opposition don't exist to facilitate the whims of the government.

Indeed they don’t. But if they do not have the strength of their own convictions to believe that they can win a GE, then what is the point of them even existing ?.....

Of course, that's why Jeremy is the only Opposition leader in history to effectively support the sitting government by refusing the chance of an election.

I get the tactics behind it, but I don't think this will translate to votes when the time comes. I fear Corbyn's moment has passed now. Boris has a lot of support from Middle England.
I thinks it's more down to not wanting a No Deal Brexit.

Parliament: "The PM must request an extension in the event of no deal being agreed"
Johnson: "Shan't. Nya, nya, you can't make me. Let's have an election instead"
Parliament: "There shall be no election, do as we have said."
Johnson, the morning after: *starts election campaigning*

I don't follow this logic. Any opposition party in the immediate aftermath of losing a general election (especially after suffering a landslide defeat) has no realistic expecation of winning a GE. So what are they supposed to do, just dissolve themselves immediately? I'm sure if you read back some of the stuff you're posting without the blinkers of "I want Brexit to happen and will adopt any position in support of that" you'd see it comes across as a bit weird at times.

I’d like to see Boris shutdown parliament until nov the 1st, and we leave on a clean break Brexit, there would be outrage, but what could anyone do, demand an election?

We’ve seen that labour are so far behind they don’t even want one.
Well, you're clearly not a troll lol

Pete. You're better than that. Corbyn isnt terrified of the polls. He wants an election and has said that a million times.

We will have one very very soon once the No Deal legislation has passed.

That's a necessary first step because Johnson cannot be trusted.

He’s either frightened of losing or frightened of winning. He’s sat on the fence over Brexit for so long he doesn’t know what he would do if he gained power. He knows he’s going to lose, so he will not agree to a GE, just as he wouldn’t play the ‘no confidence’ card against either May nor Boris. People do not like political cowardice and Corbyn has blown his chance of ever becoming PM.......

I'm pretty sure Corbyn would have disagreed, if not now, then two years ago when in his manifesto he promised to deliver Brexit with a deal.

I'm sure something was possible. Had all parties been united behind respecting the result of the vote.
IIRC he wanted a soft brexit, similar to the Norway deal

Maybe he's terrified of No Deal and what's that removed as a possibility before committing to a GE.

I'm surprised as a top negotiator that it's clear to you.
