They chose to forfeit their power and hand it to the people, the people voted and made a decision, most of the MP's didn't like it so have tried to thwart the will of the people ever since.
Brexiteers elected a government that called a non binding referendum with no plan for how to deliver on it.
Brexiteers elected a May led government to negotiate a withdrawal
Brexiteers also elected the back benchers and DUP who scuppered the agreement.
Brexiteers have also elected the politicians who have taken a confrontational attitude to the EU and shut down the political process to force their hand.

When you consider that this wasn't a pressing national issue 5 years ago and just came about as a way to silence fringe back benchers, You won your referendum and got a withdrawal agreement but here you are with a crumbling democratic system facing in to the unknown.
Brexiteers have made a mess of the UK.

We are a special case, and need a bespoke deal from the EU, 5th largest economy in the world is what we are, with that should come privilege when negotiating a deal, we aren't just some other tinpot EU country wanting to leave.

The integrity of the single market blah blah, trump's it all. Fine if you want to see the EU project as purely economic, however, rest assured the EU and other member states do not, they really really don't.

We're currently ranked either 6th or 7th depending upon which measure you choose which puts us behind Germany and France, both of which are in the EU.

I think given their positions in the world economy arguing about privilege might not be the strongest strategy.

Referendum is the highest form of democracy there is old bean.

lol

Just another Leaver who can't actually refute points so just makes baseless assertions they just pulled from somewhere dark and stinky then. And one that's pro-fascism to boot!

"Highest form of democracy" is it? Is there a league table somewhere? Perhaps on the Democracy Association website? Is there a cup also, contested between these varying forms of democracy?

Unlike Johnson, May wasn't afraid of facing Parliament. The Tories managed to time their leadership contest so as to make sure their new man didn't have to face any scrutiny over summer, and then before they come back he's making plans to dismiss them all again.

Like Trump, Johnson is the weak man's idea of a strong man - insists he'll lead the charge across no man's land to glory but doesn't put his head over the parapet, ever.
excellent analysis this

Did not the Eurozone get the southern Irish government to carry out referenda until they got the answer they wanted? CBA looking for it but it happened.

If anyone wants to buy a cheap truck now is the time - loads of manufacturers offering deals on trucks to be delivered before 31st October.

Almost like they’d be hard to shift after that date or something..
