I've got to give it to Boris, he's surprised me, he's playing a blinder in making the EU sit up and realise they need to get the deal done, if only a brexiter had been incharge of this from day one after Cameron ran off holding the grenade pin.

This Corbyn cabal are just doing their very best to weaken our negotiating position by trying to outlaw a no deal after Johnson has strengthened it in a matter of weeks and it increases by the day. I've never hated a Labour leader in my lifetime, but I hate Corbyn, he's unelectable, clinging to power over the party at any cost, turned his back on masses of Labour voters who voted to leave, be a great day for Labour to see the back of him after the next election.

Remind me again how this strengthens the British negotiating position?

Because they sell more to us than we sell to them, they need a deal, and they have always thought there was a distinct possibility the infighting in our parliament would mean brexit would never happen at all which is their preferred outcome.

Johnson has realised to get the EU to climb down he must put us on a course of no deal, for the first time in 3 years the EU can see this is now the outcome if they don't come to the table for the first time and give concessions.

The EU have disrespected us from day one and made it as hard as it could to get a deal out of them we'd be happy with, the EU does not want us to leave, they want control over us, they can see the possibility of us making our own way and taking advantage and prospering from being out of their jurisdiction, showing the way to other countries to follow us out the door.

Johnson is just showing what an absolute feeble PM May was.

I'm starting to think this is an elaborate ruse. I can't believe BJ et all swallow that by having no deal still on the table the EU are going to swerve first. We know a lot of the electorate believe this to be the case though.

So I think he has done all this knowing that parliament will rise up to prevent a no deal allowing him and the (most of) the Tories to say these people here stopped it. We'll get another extension from the EU during which there will be an election where BoJo the clown takes the moral high ground.

More duplicity and lies coming from the government, I wonder who could be advising doing such things.

Unlike Johnson, May wasn't afraid of facing Parliament. The Tories managed to time their leadership contest so as to make sure their new man didn't have to face any scrutiny over summer, and then before they come back he's making plans to dismiss them all again.

Like Trump, Johnson is the weak man's idea of a strong man - insists he'll lead the charge across no man's land to glory but doesn't put his head over the parapet, ever.

The only problem with all that is if they give the concessions that will appease leavers, the whole EU system is done for. Why should the population of France etc. allow freedom of movement if they can have what the UK have?

You don't see Turkeys voting for Christmas and you won't see EU leaders voting to kill off their own creation either.

Rubbish, Parliament has had 3 years to sort this out, there can be no consensus reached if they debate it for another 10 years.

Johnson is taking them out of the equation and rightly so, it's time to force the EU's hand, there has already been movement because for the first time we have shown the EU we are 100% gone on the 31st if they don't for the first time start looking to find an amicable deal with us, all they've ever done upto now is try to keep us in the EU by making a deal undesirable in it's current form.

It's right that Parliament are removed from a Parliamentary Democracy?

I prefer no deal, a bit of pain for both sides then new ways of doing things will be worked out and we will prosper being free to set things up the way that is best for us, opening up new opportunities without EU jurisdiction stopping us or making it difficult.

The EU know they need to make trade as frictionless as possible between us in the end, there is a 20bn deficit in their favour after all, it's in their best interests to have a good relationship with us post brexit.
