Come on Pete, that's silly. No one is saying we're reverting to the dark ages, but to use a financial metaphor, our supply chains at the moment are very highly geared, so it doesn't take much disruption for things to go belly up. I visited the Toyota plant in Lexington a couple of times this year, and they have a couple of hours worth of stock on site at any one time. They're not in the EU either, but they run a ridiculously tight ship and work to minimise any disruption to that supply chain. We're deliberately forcing that onto companies, and whatever the outcome will be, it's unlikely to be a positive one. And what do we gain? What does this rupture actually do for Britain (and please don't trot out platitudes about trade deals)?
