"The UK had an overall trade deficit of -£64 billion with the EU in 2018. A surplus of £29 billion on trade in services was outweighed by a deficit of -£93 billion on trade in goods".

That's irrelevant. Think of it like this. Person A (we can call him Farhad) is a gazillionaire. Person B (we can call him Bruce) is of more modest means. Farhad loses £100,000 today from investing in one of Bill's plays. He's sad, but £100,000 is a small proportion of his overall wealth, so he can ride with it. Bruce loses £100,000 today because instead of working he spends too much time talking to dullards online. He loses his house, his wife runs off with Ivan Lendl and his GOT mug is full of tears.

It's not irrelevant, it's a £64bn deficit, a lot of jobs are at stake, a lot of companies will relay on that trade to stay viable.

*whispers* because free movement of people is one of the best things politicians have done ever.

Whether it is or whether it isn't, a lot of nationalists are reluctant to acknowledge any benefit. So if we got the EU to bend over and give in to all our demands, I would hazard a guess a few other countries would want the same thing after bowing to the pressure from their own public.

Yes, but they're frothing lunatics. They're bad people to listen to.
