A rumour Johnson will prorogue parliment is circulating imo no different than Corbyn coup to get the keys of no 10 - he and 500 MPs voted Article 50 through ....... did they not realise they were setting a law to leave the EU on the back of a referendum of a massive ballot they stated in both manifestos of the two main parties they would honour......
We have become a banana republic.....
leaving the EU with a good deal is a necessity ......
I agree that if we leave, we should leave with a good deal as a necessity Joey. I'm still pondering on how we got here. Having a referendum, largely as a way of reducing internal Conservative Party tensions, and making blasé commitments which were not thought through brings us 3 years plus of squabbling about what was intended.
You're right though, all parties are scrambling for personal and political gain.

And whoever it is I have zero sympathy for them. These people are elected to look out for us and everyone of them is just there to get their snout in the trough for as long as possible and when they leave have another cushy number lined up.

I have the same disdain for politicians as they have for the ordinary guy in the street

Assume you include Farage in that list? A failed politician his whole career milking huge EU salaries then lining up the cushiest of side lines to earn him millions.

I get the feeling we are set for a month that we'll all remember for the rest of our lives. It feels almost surreal like the inmates have taken over the asylum.

To this day I havent seen or heard a single Leave argument that makes any sense - beyond the purely academic idea that an independent sovereign nation - should ideally determine 100% of its laws and trade policies - which is wonderful in theory then you consider the notion of trading blocks and freedom of movement not to mention Ireland and it all breaks down.

And that's leaving aside the whole notion that the EU provides a good ballast of socially aware governments to counter balance a Tory Ingerland.

Of course I do, why wouldn’t I ? when he says he is ‘fighting for the little man’ who exactly is he fighting for and how is he doing it ?

Just because I have an opposing viewpoint to most of you others in this thread I have my own reasons for voting how I did, I have a very healthy scepticism of all things politicians say, actions do more for me than soundbites and rhetoric.

At the end of the day this what we all wanted, most of us remainers would have gone with it if the government could have come up with a workable plan. The fact they can't proves that the brexit idea was a busted flush and the fact that most support going out no deal and all is just throwing the baby out with the bath water.

There must be a real possibility of social unrest if this is forced through against the vast majority of people's wishes. It would be one of the most anti-democratic political acts in UK history.

It would be the most anti-democratic act in UK history, given that our system wasnt democratic until after the first war. It is incredibly dangerous, both in terms of risking widespread unrest now and setting a precedent for the future. Anyone, on the right or left, who proposes this should be shunned.
