Of all the cringey Brexiter tropes, that is the cringiest.

Invariably made by comfortably off people from the higher end of middle age or into their retirement.

People whom are well enough padded against Brexit that “treading a little water for a short while” is nowt but an empty cliche because they don’t have a clue how long a “short time” is going to be.

According to one of Peter’s heroes, Mr. Jacob Rees Mogg esq,. it might take up to fifty years before any “benefits” of Brexit are felt.

That will take some form of latter day Jesus Christ act for us to tread the water that long.

So pardon me if I just lol at that smug post, Peter.

There are people in this country....hundreds of thousand of families, living week to week for whom “treading water” will be a mere prelude to going under the water when the jobs start to go and the children are going hungry.

But what do you care.....just let the devil take the hindermost, eh?
It's a callous and awful thing to suggest, the same poster would have said the same of austerity and I'm absolutely sure he would of been fine with the pain and suffering that caused, the death and suffering of people is nothibg compared to their starry eyed nationalism

B

He's got me on ignore because I asked him a question he couldn't answer.
He's a Troll.
Classic troll behaviour of quoting one eyed sources that suit his argument, claiming that this is intelligent debate and swiftly moving on when challenged with counter evidence.
Creates an ever more bizarre persona to maintain what he sees as the moral high ground;
1. Irish descent; Backstop expert
2. Converted to Islam; Religious Tolerance
3. Malaysian wife; Can't possibly be racist.
4.Works part time in an orphanage; Good citizen with a social conscience.
5. Only comes back to the UK once a year so he has a clearer picture of the decline of the UK than those that live here. That decline being entirely the fault of the EU.
Just quotes from the net and makes outlandish statements ( we will lavish millions on the fishing fleet to make it great again, we ignore our homeless but immigrants are housed straight away) and moves on with "whataboutery" when picked up.
He's a Troll. Just ignore.

Ex European Commissioner doesn’t like Boris shocker, so dresses it up as though all of our institutions are falling.....this is just another ego centric politician who has led a very good life swanning from cushy job to cushy job while picking up his HMG and EU pensions......

As opposed to Johnson, who has been sacked from numerous jobs for combinations of dishonesty and incompetence, yet he's the person you back unreservedly.

I love that you're insinuating that Johnson isn't. lol

They aren't directed in the right places, that's the problem.

They are to a degree.

Successive Governments at Westminster and Members of Parliament have had a huge influence on the shape of our society.

Feeling disempowered and disaffected with Westminster is in many ways legitimate.

From the lack of a controlled transition away from heavy industry in many parts of the country, the lack of house building nationwide, the lack of regulation in the banking system, the lack of investment in infrastructure outside of London etc.

Tory and Labour are responsible for the above over generations.

Years of austerity that has hit the poorest the most has exacerbated the above.

The point is that the blame should lie with UK government(s) and not with the EU.

There are plenty of reasons someone could take issue with the EU, but it feels that the anger and frustration directed at them throughout the 'Brexit' timeline would be better directed inwardly.

I would then consider the overall effect of Globalisation and how that feels if you haven't gone to university, are immobile and living near where you grew up, poorly paid and insecure work etc.

It could seem like a big stitch up between elites across the Continent with Westminster fully playing its part.
