Hey we have a theme of Kurt playing the school bully again, he's never ever WUMED any poster on the GOT:dodgy:
Go take your tablets joe and ready yourself for bed. Like I’ve said, you’re more than welcome to report any post of mine. Calling a wum out for what he is doesn’t constitute bullying joe

It was just the same for Y2K. Of course it comes at a cost and there are lots of unknowns and many unknown unknowns, but that what managers get paid for......
If you think that 18 months+ worth of work for thousands of people in the NHS, to make sure that we can maintain a relative standard of patient care following a decision we made is sensible, then you're insane.

Probably best you don't talk about the fishing industry of Hull, Grimsby, Lowestoft or wherever like you know what you are talking about. Quoting random web pages does not show the devastation caused by the loss of the fishing fleets. Have a look at an old copy of Olsens Almanac and look how many trawlers were registered compared to nowadays.

Just because there were '10,000' fishermen that number does not take into account all the local industry that was reliant on the fishing industry, processing, netting, ship building, equipment suppliers.

Northern coastal towns ? who gives a monkeys about them ? well maybe not many people in power over the past 30 odd years, but they took notice when all the towns voted for brexit in huge numbers. Never seen so many politicians all of a sudden visiting the peasants.

I seldom report posters Kurt only when it's really nasty .......or inappropriate..post...

Charity begins at home is modern rework of the much older proverb, charity begins with children in the home, to teach them virtues of charitable behaviour. it was a reminder to RichardP, of our little discussion earlier on it.

Indeed I do have some sympathy's with Freedom of Movement being misused, and it has there is nothing that will change me from that position, also Governments failing to adequately support communities with infrastructure , however, i would always want a significant increases in refugees seeking a safe life here in the UK...
My point wasn't aimed at you. It was more of a general statement.

The demise of the British fishing fleet began in 1950s, because of over fishing. I was in and round the fishing industry growing up, i dont have much sympathy for our trawlers, they have landed fish to impunity for their own profit, little concern to no concern for managementof stocks.

Although the EU attempts to manage stocks is a lot to be desired, pretty much guarantee just like our Tuna stocks in 1950s which was the mecca of Tuna stocks many more species would not be here today without some management.

And let’s be honest Brexiteers will trade in whats left of British trawler fleet for Finance sector as and when

The debate about the fishing industry is one of the weird things about brexit for me. Whilst it's sad that industries like this come and go it's approximately 0.1% of the UKs economy. Why are we going through this wholesale change for that. As if the brexit party (tory party) give a crap about fishermen anyway.

Hammond's figures supported by a Remain civil service, maybe!

That's not how the civil service works. Analysis is conducted according to strict guidelines and work is regulated by centres of excellence within Departments and external bodies like the National Audit Office.

Departments also tend to work rather independently of eachother, especially different teams within those Departments.

Whitehall is absolutely vast! If different parts of the forest are saying the same thing, it isn't because of some vast civil service conspiracy. It literally isn't possible for that kind of ground up sideways coordination due to how the system is set up. We are all rather silo'd, hence the need for Cabinet Office, Number 10 (which has expanded a lot in recent times) and HMT.

I work in Whitehall. The vast majority of the civil service is professional and impartial and envied across the World.

The fishing industry was brought up earlier as an example by someone, however the issue folks have is not restricted to just the fishing industry, it could be steel, cotton, cars, glass, whatever.

Around here it wasn't immigration, border control, making our own laws, 350M per week to the NHS or whatever crap was thrown at everyone prior to the vote, nope the general feeling is that there is such a disconnect to Westminster that if those in power say staying in the EU is a good thing then vote the opposite. They have been sticking it to the communities that long and that often it was a chance to show some resistance to the machine and by golly the voters took that opportunity.

Jobs lost ? housing prices going down ? When people are on unemployment benefits and don't own a house do you really think they care that much ?

There is a reason most cities voted to stay in, there is also a reason nearly everywhere else the majority voted to leave. If you think all 17 million people were taken in by the leave campaign then you are as deluded as you think they are.

With respect this is a terrible reason to vote out. Completely misdirected anger.

I quite agree, but when it seems like no one is bothered then when the opportunity presents itself...

And then May starts pledging money before her demise and the current idiot in no.10 seems to also be following suit then obviously something did strike a nerve
