I am pretty agnostic on Left/Right, I tend towards who appears to be competent. Cos lets face it, they are all toads basically.

My opinion on Johnson is that he isnt very clever. He has played to a gallery, and has been naked in his ambition to be PM. If he fails in delivering your version of Brexit, what will you think of him then?

Fair question. It would depend on my petception of why he failed. If it was because of incompetence or he comes out as a closet remainer I would be mightily pee'd off.

But if he had his hands tied by Parliament and failed despite his genuine best efforts then I would stick with him and continue the fight.

Steady on mate, that's a hypothetical question... they can't answer those or their faith falls apart.

Its odd. He was lauding him for some probably nonsense announcements, suggesting he will sort the EU right out, when the man himself said last week that a No Deal is a million to one chance.

Tonight he has said its touch and go.

False idols.

Going off thread a bit here but we are all Evertonians after all. I have 2 trips to UK in September so if any Blues are close to Newcastle (crew hotel is near Gateshead metro centre actually) I am happy to discuss matters further over a beer or three.

Sooo. In the 2 months or so the Falklands conflict lasted, we built how many ships, and needed how much coal for the war effort?

My memory recalls a cruise liner or two being converted into troop carriers.

Nobody knew how long it was going to last when it started.

The First World War was going to be all over by Christmas 1914 you know.

To be fair to BoJo, he has already pumped £ billions into NHS and is recruiting 20000 police officers. A small start I grant you but more than May ever did.
Money for the NHS which is not ' new money' ; They got rid of 20,000 police officers, many of whom were experienced, so not exactly a cap in his feather.

Boris has defaulted back to give away Tory budgets before an election which given the parliamentary arithmetic isn't long coming. Nice headlines but we will pay later for it.

I hope I'm wrong on that but seeing we couldn't rub two farthings together beforehand and with the extra billion to NI for the confidence and supply deal, it's like we've said screw it there is already x amount on the credit card so let's max it out.

So there is no such thing as EU money. Only recycled members money. We are stopping our membership payments. See how EU gets on then.
We'll be just fine thank you very much.

This notion that Brexiters have dreamt up that the EU is totally dependent on UK financial contributions is utter nonsense.

I am not sure. Shortly before Hammond had his hissy fit and jumped before he was pushed, he did say that austerity was coming to an end. And that statement was long overdue.

I certainly take the point that BJ is also in full on election mode and agree that an election is likely quite soon - early 2020 would be my guess.

I suppose BJ's argument would be that we now have £39 billion to spend.

You jump to extremes again Mark. Not totally dependent but EU will really miss our contributions which will either have to be made up by the other EU27 or the EU will have to rein in the way it recycles other members contributions.
