I find this angle funny tbh, as it completely goes against the entire trade mantra of the Brexiteers.

Of course Germany would prefer it if things stayed the same, that’s not in question. However, we are one country in the global arena. Even if in the worst case scenario and we end up with tariffs and German exports to the U.K. drop considerably as a result, they have the option to up their efforts in displacing that lost volume across the other 26 markets in the EU, plus the other near 60 countries with which they have an FTA via the EU, or to the emerging markets.

We’re losing FTA access to those near 60 countries overnight, plus the 27 markets of the EU via the single market, yet Brexiteers shout that it’s no big deal, we have the entire planet to go at, forget the potential of dwindling trade with both the EU (and until we reach agreement on quotas via the WTO) the other near 60 countries we trade with on an FTA basis. Also forget the numerous bilateral agreements we have via the EU with the likes of the US etc. No it’s all sound, we march on, it’ll all be grand.

Then on the next breath you’re suggesting that a drop of in trade with the U.K. will somehow cripple the Germans.

It’s so obviously contradictory it’s laughable mate.

Hahaha.......but It won’t matter to you will it, you’re selling up and doing one. The spirit of the blitz is alive and well........

As somebody came right out yesterday and asked a direct question to me, can I do the same with you?
The consequences you speak of, did you know exactly what they would be, and if so, from where did you get your information?
No malice intended, just an honest question.
When ? In the referendum ? I didn't have a vote. Will still have to deal with the consequences though, most of which don't bear thinking about.

In fairness, I defend the leavers here when people trivialise their concerns - and I don't appreciate you doing it too.

A lot of people are genuinely scared about the future, and that isn't something to laugh at.

It is. It’s a disgrace that the elite are being allowed, once again, to frighten the sheep. Come the beginning of April 2019, our country will not fall apart......

Jacob Rees Mogg?

No mate, and I don’t want to trivialise your question, but we are a stable economy, whom the EU make a large trading surplus with, we will become their largest overseas market at a stroke. What is being played out and turned into frightening stories is just a form of political brinkmanship, trying to destabilise the U.K. voters. I don’t know a single leave voter who is affected by these scare stories, but there are loads of Remainers who are only too willing to believe them because they hope it will change opinions.....

Weak mate. Pretty sure he will do what the Indian owners want, not the Germans.

It’s not weak at all, he is the German head of a company. He is the CEO. He has come out with his statements. I have already said that I would fire him because he is using Brexit as cover for bad product planning, nothing else. I will put money on the fact that more German companies or German heads of companies do similar. They know that German exports to the U.K. will take a hammering in a no deal WTO Brexit, they also know that their esteemed leader is not listening to them.......

At what cost?

If you are from the ROI you do have a vote. You can change that idiot who is being led by the nose by Brussels for the purpose of gaining a negotiating advantage, leaving you to pick up the tab......
Who, Leo ? He is doing a pretty decent job actually of ensuring that the EU do not default on their committment to protect Irish interests as a constituent member state, not one which is crying off for its own selfish interests. In any event, changing the leader of the government would make no difference. Everyone is singing from the same hymn sheet as far as Brexit is concerned.
