It actually makes sense lads. I'll explain.

So the two men highlighted below are the double pivot.

They sit in front of the back four and protect the area around them so that attacking midfielders in their zone of proximity can't threaten with possession easily, as seen by the lines below showing their available movement.

It also allows the attacking mid - in this instance, Coutinho, to join the attack more frequently without worrying what is behind them.

So, in short, if they played Henderson and Lucas with Coutinho ahead of them, they'd have a strong core to the middle of the pitch which would be difficult to break down and dangerous on the thrust (the selected area below)

Hope that helps lads.
Ahh, now it makes sense. Sometimes us dimwits need a graphic. Cheers Tubey!

And lastly, and this is the biggest shock of them all, which i know the answer to. Why cannot they let go of players until they retire? Carragher was fantastic up until the day he retired, then it was all 'well he was getting worse'. Same with Slippy now, they won't acknolage he is declining quite a bit and cling onto the hope that he will emulate a player in italy because apparently thats what all midfielders do?

2) Frank Lampard. the closest player to slippy and he is still playing strong. IN FACT, Lampard is still playing an attacking midfield role and is older than Slippy, does that make him better as he isn't having to massively adapt to a deep holding role. He has scored more goals in the past few games than slippy will all season. Point is, they wouldn't even acknowledge the fact he is better, probably throw some insults at him from being from round the corner in Hackney or something.

In the past liverpool were quite brutal in moving players on. Maybe that's where they are going wrong now.

They might, of course, be really clever and desrcibe Lampard as Fat F1rank.

And Sturridge there, spearheading the attack, he'd be spraying shots left right and centre I imagine? Could you represent those shots in white on your interesting diagram?

I see now, Coutinho is occupying the Japs Eye position supplying Sturridge from behind.

Little Richard and Lallana waiting either side eager to mop up any stray balls.

Kinell it wasn't just trannies Rodgers was looking at in Garlands, he was actually studying tactics.

Their must win game and they blew it haha

Here is how it could well go from here

Real Madrid beat them twice - Real 12 points
Basle beat and draw Ludogrets at least - 7 -9 points
Liverpool - 3 points
ludogrets - 0/1 point

Then liverpool have to win their last 2 games and hope basle drew against ludogrets once.

If they draw vs basle they are out. they drop any points after real they are out.

ONLY ludogrets holding basle to a draw twice or beating them will give them hope. That or liverpool beating real.

TROUBLE IN PARADISE? OH, DEAR...:D

Brendan Rodgers admitted his disappointment in his Liverpool side on a night when the controversial side of Mario Balotelli again surfaced.

The Reds lost 1-0 to Basel in Switzerland, leaving them with an uphill task to reach the Champions League knockout stages.

The Italian striker cut an increasingly frustrated figure, and he risked a red card when raising a hand to the face of an opponent, before being castigated by Rodgers at the end for failing to go to the travelling Reds support, and show his appreciation.

Rodgers said: “I’m not sure if he went back out to say thanks to the fans because I came straight here.

“But I was speaking to one or two of the players to make sure they did that – it’s important, our supporters have travelled a long way and that is why it’s important they acknowledge the support, and what they have put in to get here.”
andddd here comes Rodgers, blame it on players, shifting any blame from himself and showing everyone what a good red he is..

"Yeah we lost, yeah we were awful, but Balotelli didn't clap the fans, i would've sung YNWA to them if i didn't have to do this interview"

Gerrard would struggle to make a top 10 PL players list of the past decade. He scored the Olympiakos goal, the one in Istanbul and the last minute equaliser against WHU in the cup final. He's never been a player that influences 90 minutes of games and dominates them. An odd few maybe.

Anyone who seriously puts that feller up as a PL best player are quite simply thick.

Those being the derby and the occasional Man Utd game
