"We'll see what Brendan Rodgers is made of. They're 14th and nine points away from Chelsea. The fans have got to be more realistic. Brendan has to stick to his philosophy and keep believing.
why? anyone who knows anything about football could have said they had no chance of being title contenders this season.

I don't think he defended at the corner eitherhttp://www.mirror.co.uk/sport/football/news/brendan-rodgers-reminds-mario-balotelli-4362286
TROUBLE IN PARADISE? OH, DEAR...
Brendan Rodgers admitted his disappointment in his Liverpool side on a night when the controversial side of Mario Balotelli again surfaced.
The Reds lost 1-0 to Basel in Switzerland, leaving them with an uphill task to reach the Champions League knockout stages.
The Italian striker cut an increasingly frustrated figure, and he risked a red card when raising a hand to the face of an opponent, before being castigated by Rodgers at the end for failing to go to the travelling Reds support, and show his appreciation.
Rodgers said: “I’m not sure if he went back out to say thanks to the fans because I came straight here.
“But I was speaking to one or two of the players to make sure they did that – it’s important, our supporters have travelled a long way and that is why it’s important they acknowledge the support, and what they have put in to get here.”

He does a great moody pout though......I think that's what did it for BrendaBalotelli is the only 'world class' striker I've ever seen who doesn't actually score any goals. Loads of boss dives, loads of good winding up, load of weird hair cuts but nothing that actually resembles any sort of half competent forward play. He even managed to miss from a yard against us at Anfield, a fixture where where the football gods normally just deflect in any sort of mis-hit, scuffed shot, cross that wasn't meant straight into the back of our net.

I am shocked that the team who apparently resembled the great Ajax side of the early 1970's against us on Saturday struggled so poorly tonight.
Gerrard's proved his critics wrong though, right?
