I dont want him as permanent manager, but Dave said he'd done nothing as a coach. I have no idea whether hes a good coach or not, so I wondered how he knew.
Tbh you would have to ask Lukaku what he like as a coach as the rest of our striker struggle to hit the back of the net

Royle had experience he could dig into, this feller doesn't.

Let's all remember: he hasn't coached this team AT ALL. Yesterdays win was all about the fans in that stadium. Also, when you play a team like Chelsea you can sit back and react to them pushing on. Against lesser teams you have to set up to make the running. A game against Watford or Sheffield United would be far more indicative of any coaching skills the galoot has than one against a top team.

Anyway, I dont expect him to be around much longer in a position to find out.

Fair points and i dont disagree with much of it mate. But why not use our natural advantages like the crowd and the ground and siege it up. Like it or no, or rate him as a manager or no, Ferguson is held in great esteem by the vast majority associated with club and that has a massive galvanizing effect in creating a connection between the team, fans and club that has been missing in the last 4 months, arguably longer.

There is something to be said, for a bit of attitude, desire good old fashioned grocking and making luck, knocking teams of kilter etc, play the percentages less ,f the possession and passing stats, create your own luck and do things like having a go with 2 up top etc, its reminiscent of Royle and his approach and Dunc of course would have experience as he was part of it.

Im not saying he is the answer, but what he could create could be what we need in the short term, we've always had good players, but maybe not good characters if that can be changed and improvement brought to bear, im open minded.

Football is a fickle game as we know, two losses on the trot and everyone singing his praises will be calling him inept, i know that. The job of work for me is someone carrying us to the summer, because bringing in a manager with a new philosophy at this stage of the season and going total reboot does not apeeal to me and i think its dangerous, would much prefer that to be done in the close season in a greater market etc. Usual caveats apply relegation threat apply etc.

It’s all well and good claiming we are the ‘school of science’ but if you think the fans at the ground today care more about tiki taka than a blood and thunder ‘into them from the first whistle’ kind of approach you’ve probably not been to a game.
I think they care about winning 9 league titles.

yesterday was a fantastic result but it wasn’t the Everton way

Everton where the 1st team to play 4-3-3 and won the league

This is the problem, even the fans believe the Moyes Everton is the true Everton and it’s not

That’s fair. But it’s been 30 years since we’ve had a winning team. My earliest Everton memories were Walter Smith for example. And the culture is different. I think what fans respond to the most is 100% effort and getting into them from the first whistle. That’s what Everton is to me and what gets me and the crowd going.

The intenisty of that crowd cant be maintained. Royle got that against Liverpool first game, but he was tactically astute (a very underestimated maanger in that respect). We KNEW he had that to fall back on when we signed him up from Oldham.

Experience is needed for a club like this. If an ex-player wants to manage us, let them go and prove they have the skill set. We aren't an orginasiation that can afford to go on gut reactions. This league will slaughter those decisions.

WTF use is Brands if we go to a coach without experience? If that happens then you have to wonder why we have that feller around at all.

We need cool decsision making here, not decisions based on the fantasy outcomes dreamed up by a generation of Evertonians who have never experienced success other than the 95 cup win. They are the last people who should have input into who gets this Everton job.

Good god, we are agreeing again.

I hear you mate,I was born in 81 and ofcource we where great in the 80s but I didn’t really know what was going on, I’ve only known failure. My Grandad use to tell me about Alex Young and Howard and Royle and Ball and winning everywhere we went

It’s a travesty that there’s such a disconnenct between the generations, my dad is the same with regards to the 80s team. About the Pace of Ratcliffe and Big Nev and Sheedy banging in free kicks and fingering the kop. I hope one day we can reach that again, with some school of science flair ;)
