2025/26 David Moyes

….going by what Cox says. No doubt, Moyes’ opinion is critical but he’ll be advised and recommendations made. It doesn’t matter if he gives a green light on a transfer and then Kinnear says the money isn’t available or Cox says it doesn’t meet strategic criteria.

Consensus, I’d be sure they look at recommendations and come to a consensus agreement. All the time, a key ingredient is Smith.
I think you're massively overcomplicating what is a fairly straightforward process. Moyes obviously doesn't go out and scout players at grass roots level, there are people finding the players (lots of them) then people filtering some of them out and proposing them to Moyes who decides which ones he wants to look further in to and/or eventually sign, while Kinnear works out what this means for the budget and how much we're willing to commit to the signings. Nobody thinks Moyes is travelling out to South America on a whim in case there's someone we should buy out there, or drawing up their contracts himself, but it's abundantly clear that the decision on who we sign is his.

I think it's clear that people supporting Moyes will twist even Moyes' own words to suit whatever it is they want to believe. The fanbase of this club is so broken that some people are happy to just survive, while all around are building for the future. Such a shame the new start didn't materialise with the new owners and new stadium.

….and most certainly vice versa, Ralph ;)

It's been communicated multiple times that Moyes has final say on transfers. By Moyes, and by others at the club.

What that means currently means in practice is debatable, but him wanting final say is consistent with how he has operated across his entire career.
There's a huge difference between a manager saying I want player A,go out and buy him for me,and a manager who is given a choice of players B and C who the scouting department bring him who are at a price that the other members of the transfer committee have approved and he says okay I'll go with B then.

…sounds to me like Kinnear, Moyes and Cox look at the recommendations and come to agreement. I don’t think it’s as despotic as you’d like to think, obviously cost and strategy are factors and in the end they’ll reach consensus.
Moyes throughout his entire managerial career has prized having autonomy over every decision of the squad , which is why during his final seasons at west ham there were stories of conflict behind the scenes because he had to work with a DOF. Also probably the reason he was willing to work with a miniscule budget for years under kenwright because despite the limited funds , kenwright didn't meddle in Moyes decision making. I would be flabbergasted if he didn't get assurances before taking the position here that he wouldn't have final say on transfers based from his established personality and also the fact he clearly states it in a presser

I posted practically the same thing at the same time. They're all down to Moyes.

The takeaway its set up around Moyes
How does it make any sense, in ANY business, to tailor either the most important or second most important part of your business around a person you literally hired as a firefighter to be there for 6-18months? I just don't understand how David Moyes managed to come in as a temporary fix and then basically have everything set up to be his way 6 months into the job.

I guess I also don't understand how Donald fn Trump is so adored by people but, hey, the similarities are there!
