2025/26 David Moyes

Does anyone trust Moysie to get things right transfer wise if he's given a big bag of money to buy players in the summer window?

….here’s how it works, Matey. It’s not like Moyes is given an envelope full of money and told to go out and spend it, there are other key players in this process so we’ll have to wait and see;

Sounds to me like the recipe for disaster we got last summer.

Disconnected and confused.

…I’d be fairly sure most clubs work in a similar fashion. Gone are the days where the Manager is given the spend envelope and responsible for hiring and firing.

I doubt it’d make much difference to our signings if Moyes was in charge or not this summer. The difference to last summer window is the two key personnel in the process only joined the club after that window closed.

I get that mate, I don’t think any manager should be the one dictating all the signings themselves, they often have favourites or get hyper focused/obsessed with certain players who follow them from club to club. A collective should work better if they are aligned and all have an equal voice at the table - not sure we have that at Everton.

Hopefully the two you mentioned joining late make a difference, as it feels like Moyes and the committee were working against each other, not together last summer imo.

The other issue is Moyes has the veto/final say on all deals, I’m uncomfortable with that after his performance with the signings we’ve made so far.

And yet he got us into the CL.So was that the only season he was positive?
And then this:
To lose on penalties was so undeserved
Everton faithful
It was desperately cruel on Everton after they made light of the two-goal first-leg deficit with a vibrant performance that threatened to sweep Fiorentina aside, creating chance after chance.

Everton were without Tim Cahill, sidelined by a foot injury, but it did not stop David Moyes's side going on all-out attack against the high-flying Italians.
Did you watch the Moyes team that got into the Champions League? I wouldn't describe it as free flowing attacking football.

….it doesn’t say he has the final say, it says he’s part of the process and I suspect that’s the case. I remember Klopp saying he didn’t want Salah because he thought he was too small but he was outvoted. I think that’s more like the reality.

If anybody has a strong view/opinion that’ll obviously be considered but not necessarily the deciding factor if the others feel opposite. It’s designed for continuity regardless of manager but ultimately it’s all still down to judgement.

I think it's not then, given that it's come out several times that Moyes has personally rejected some players given to him (one of the young lads at Bournemouth I believe was one of them).

So committee or not, and whether you'd like to believe it or not, Moyes does have quite a lot of power in this setup - in fact, James Smith is being touted as some revelation, but he was Moyes' main man in his first stint, and he was the first hire Moyes made for this "restructuring" last summer. City were thrilled to let him go too. A committee only in name, not in function.

Bet Kenny Moyes is here in some of his amazing agent capacity too.

….believe what you want to believe ;)

It's been communicated multiple times that Moyes has final say on transfers. By Moyes, and by others at the club.

What that means currently means in practice is debatable, but him wanting final say is consistent with how he has operated across his entire career.

And he hired his yes-men last summer.

But it's someone else and not Moyes doing this, they'll surely stay when he leaves, right?

…’his entire career’. The game has changed lots since he went to Milwall on a wet night and spotted Tim Cahill, it’s much more global. I dare say he has a big say but I think the reality is they agree the types of players needed and the recruitment team go out and identify them. I’d doubt Moyes even heard of the likes of Barry until he was recommended to him.

Someone should tell Moyes that the game has changed a lot for the last 25 years then :)

Plus, he didn't go out on a wet night and spot Tim Cahill, Tim Cahill was just at the FA cup final and Milwall's standout performer for a while, it's not like he was some hidden gem that needed unearthing.
