2025/26 David Moyes

There's a huge difference between a manager like let's say Guardiola who can tell the owners to go out and buy player A.
And a manager like Moyes who's looking for a wide player who is brought the choice of three players and it required to sign off on one of the three, even if none of them are players he'd really want.
Again that argument makes no sense given that James Smith, Director of Scouting & Recruitment worked with Moyes first time round at Everton. He also came here after working in same role for Guardiola at City.

Have we established that is the actual process or are you just speculating?

I know about as much as you do,have you established the exact process the club uses to identify transfer targets?
As far as I can tell, the "transfer comitee" submit a list of scouted player targets and Moyes makes choice from list.

I suppose the issue is if keeps saying no most of the time! He obviously says yes to some. Indeed, the right back from Fulham was a yes, but no other targets...

Been together long enough now Moyes and Committee, no excuse. Apart from World Cup will slow many transfers down.

Others believe Moyes has complete control and has his targets lined up. I'm sure if the budget was unlimited we'd have a squad with a different profile. But it's all supposition anyway.

So you know exactly what happened and the procedure when Dibling was identified as a transfer target.
Players are identified based on overall team data blended with the managers philosophy/setup. If Moyes has an issue with players then maybe he needs to look closer to home. An example being strikers, just because a striker is tall doesn't mean they want the ball launched at head/chest height all the time, most modern strikers want it ahead of them too run onto. Players are tought about the risks of dementia and other health issues these days, why would any half decent striker want to play for us given the way we play.

From what I've read and this is just my interpretation, the scouts are looking for players that exhibit attributes, Moyes has clearly established a preference towards, with even some of his assistance coaches scouting out a particular player if there's a continued curiosity. So it's not like a kid at a grocery store having to pick from either cereal a or b, he doesn't have the control he did during his first time here but it's not like hes just a passenger in the process either ,he still has a major influence and dictates what he prefers player wise it's just designed to be streamlined

If he took any responsibility at all for the collapse at the end of the season he'd have cancelled his WC moonlighting and right now be working his socks off to hit the ground running in preseason.
We did not have to worry about relegation this season (so in his view it's job done), and he did not get Europe next season so he can pick Keane, McNeil, Barry, Gana and Tarkowski for every match next season without worrying about twice a week games.

So he doesn't give a S.

It’s wonderfully streamlined for Moyes just to say no to all the players who are suggested in the end. And if one of said players are signed anyway, he just won’t play them.

West Ham spend was actually even worse it was £500m plus
Horrendous.

Go David before time trips up a credible 2 stints. Talk sport likes a Scottish accent. 'Kin stay there you boring dollop.

Going out on his shield at the cost of EFC is a lose lose lose scenario for club, fans and squad where only Moyes wins.
