2025/26 David Moyes

TBH.
I think @Eggs has probably forgotten more about football than most of us will ever know.

Everyone is entitled to their opinion but I think it would serve us all well to realise their are others with a different but equally valid opinion.

This coming from someone who wanted Iraola as our manager next season.
We should remember however that with seven or eight games to go I think there were relatively few complaints about the manager.
It was the collapse in the last number of games that got the alarm bells ringing.
Alarm bells were ringing before then for some of us. Appreciate not everyone sees it the way some of us see it and this forum’s all about opinions.

Yes and no.

As there have been the same complaints all season. Had we qualified we'd be happy but we'd still have Keane Tarkowski defence. We'd still have the Beto Barry sub post 70 mins. We'd still be flogging KDH and Ndiaye to death. We'd still have negative football. List goes on.
Yep, not sure why people think it’s just been the last six or seven games. This season it’s obvious we’ve had more luck then not (even when yo7 do take into account the appalling referring decisions) and by luck I means opposition profligacy in front of our goal etc. this has been brewing for a while, we just ran out of that luck.

….cheers. I am old, I’ll give you that ;)

We were hopeful yes, but because of the opportunity offered by the flat table and what probably felt like a third throw of the dice after a scrappy season start, missed cups and sticky Jan period and struggles post afcon.

But clearly what Moyes has assembled over 18 months sits well outside top half, and is poor to watch.

Without two away flukes vs utd and villa and were just above Spurs i think.

Moyes is arrogant, not competitive, failed commercially and hopefully, done.

Few complaints about the manager?

Really?

It’s amazing how the Kenwright and subsequent years have not only infected subsequent owners and boards to accept sh1te as the ‘norm’ but has also infected some portions of the supporter base.

They say it’s being practical and progress takes time. It must take a lot longer if spending £100m plus gets you one more point than the season before with barely any difference in other key performance metrics.

Nothing wrong with demanding more, better, quicker.

You see that’s the difference. Players will play for a club that achieves results regardless of style of play because they achieve results. They will sacrifice how they play for the enjoyment of being competitive and winning things. Arsenal with 30% possession in a CL final is an entirely different proposition from Everton at home to Sunderland with 30% possession.

It’s either one or the other and preferably both. I’m not sure you’ll have a big talent pool of players that want to play for a manager that plays with an average of 40% possession that ends up 13th in the league. That’s the difference. There’s a lot we need in terms of players for first XI and the squad generally, but getting players in who can support attacks is a priority.

Modern footballs for example is all about your full backs being able to get forward. If I’m a full back who wants to get forward to support attacks and provide some width. I ain’t playing for Moyes.
Yeah, it’s not like Moyes every played with an overlapping fullback before.

….it’s a bit of a nonsense to say, ‘without two flukes against United and Villa’, I thought we were terrific in those games. You don’t mention losing points late to City, the RS and West Ham, never mind penalties against Arsenal and West Ham that VAR have accepted responsibility for.

Easy to highlight points gained, not balanced to not highlight points dropped, except it suits the agenda.

Next season will be exactly the same, we’ll win and lose points we didn’t deserve. Where you finish is about right.

I just think the criticism is way OTT.

Apart from the fact that you are referring to 13 years ago or more, Martinez showed him how to properly use full backs in his first season.
Even at West Ham he had Coufal, Cresswell and Emerson doing exactly that.

And it got so bad under Martinez that the players essentially stepped up to organise themselves.
