2025/26 David Moyes

You do realise that there was a clamour to sack Shankly when he failed to deliver promotion from the second division a couple of times by missing out at the death.

I think it was led by the Chairman of their Shareholders Association.
Also, why on earth would a blue use Shankly as an example?

….they did brilliantly, fantastic transfer window. They’ll be a good benchmark too.

Don’t get this ‘lack of ambition’ tag, except it’s a throwaway line everybody likes. Getting ahead of Bournemouth could mean Europe or even Champions League. You can throw a blanket over a number of teams in this league.
I’ve not seen one solitary thing from the owners that would suggest they have serious ambitions to break into the top 8 clubs in the division.

Not expecting to see it this summer either.

Not spending in January when we had a chance of a really high finish. Then allowing an underperforming manager to go into the last year of a contract. And the CEO comes out with ridiculous comments, essentially patting themselves on the back, as the season was falling apart.

Those are all clear examples of a lack of ambition or standards.

… that’s fair but we did spend a few quid last summer.

I do feel it’s much too early to talk about ‘lack of ambition’. What is more important is we spend any monies better than last summer.

THIS IS NOT A [Poor language removed] SERIOUS CLUB! Liverpool sack a manager who won them the [Poor language removed] league last season and get them Champions League. We stick with David "Oi don't know what the fans are upset about" Moyes I [Poor language removed] hate everything about this club ffs.
Get it off your chest buddy. We understand.
Note to TFG, the temperature is rising.

He can't be advocating for transfer targets, we need to buy players for our future not for whoever happens to be manager at the time. Our committee has to be strong-willed, stronger than Kinnear was anyway

Come on lads and lasses, someone please tell me why I'm wrong to become fixated on my club's persistence on persevering with a guy who's been manager for fourteen years this coming season. During that time we've not won a bean.

….that’s fair, so you’d no doubt be happy if he got a contract extension before the window opens?
No. I’d get remove him from post now, get a new manager in to agree targets with the recruitment team. One whose style of play is attractive to transfer targets.

If we don’t sack him now, I suspect we will mid season, but if not we’re likely to not see much progress either this time next year.

We have a 21st century stadium watching 20th century football (and that’s being kind)

Unfortunately that's probably about to change shortly.
They have a social media team so would imagine they’ll have people monitoring social media. I would think they won’t be unaware of the strength of feeling amongst some of the online community. If they do extend, then we’ll know no strategy, no ambition. Just happy to exist.

….not sure ‘what style of play is attractive to transfer targets’ means. Arsenal are in a CL final here with 30% of the play but every player working their heart out because it matters. Saka was like a 2nd full back but at Everton Moyes gets criticised for wanting Dibling to work hard. Bournemouth play more

It’s all a bit of a nonsense. Points and wins make a difference, 5 or 6 points difference makes a difference.
