2025/26 David Moyes

Yep. But its the thought and mentality behind that thinking. Along with not changing that thinking when its obviously not working.

Thats the biggest worry
The irony of the season is that focusing on development was the safer option (and better, but that's a different discussion). If he had brought a bunch of young players through and finished 13th, I think he's doing the job required.

But he can't/won't. And he didn't get the desired result to paper over playing players out of position and the complete lack of youth development.

TFG and Kinnear have to seriously consider if it’s worth giving Moyes another year if he’s not getting another contract, they brought Moyes in for stability and we’re pretty stable, what if Moyes brings in more players this summer and any potential new manager next year has more players to replace if they’re not players he wants.

That’s the problem I have with this model, we have a manager not a coach, isn’t it best this new recruitment team buys the players and we have a coach that gets the best out of them? Much like a Bournemouth, Brighton etc, and you have a conveyer belt then and less of a squad turnover.

How do you even know how much they are improving? he barely plays them

I didn't say I know "how much" they're improving.... just saying that generally young players do improve with time. I assume he amd his staff do see them in training every day, and judges on that and when they have stepped in too.

I don't profess to be the best judge of players, but I don't think that I have seen too much to suggest that any of the youngsters would've regularly displaced the 1st teamers last season. Yes, substitution opportunities are a key factor too, but can't say I've seen any analysis showing how we have that depth of quality or ability to change formation etc. Seen some sides literally change out half their team and still have a balanced side, we can't do that.

Just can’t understand why Kinnear said what he said about developing the younger players at the beginning of the season, watched as they were marginalised for the whole season, & then came out complimentary on the job he’s done in the Sunderland program notes.

Anybody who knows a bit about football knows Moyes is the last manager you would employ to develop young players.

I listened to the podcast and I thought he was quite critical in fairness. Basically said win now was the strategy but it didn't work.

Watched it yesterday when @Bluepablo posted it.

Boyland was definitely not being pro Moyes.

Not in the slightest!
He works for that kopite fanzine pathetic, and he’s a moysie scrotum sniffer.

The end.

Boyland is one of the best Everton reporters around , he mentioned Moyes approach was to not develop youth players but to try win games with his preferred aged players didn't say it was an effective application. His description of how we played and especially how we setup against spurs was very scathing

The antithesis of Prentice
