2025/26 David Moyes

What recruitment teams do has nothing to do with my point though, they can sit their digging out data all day long and probably enjoy it.
for an actual football fan, nah, that isn't a pretty sight.

Using that is fine in the work place, using that in your general footy chat 🤷‍♂️

Data - Good for the club
Eyes - Good for me
You know what, fair. But still, dismissing it outright isn’t helpful come on. It can be useful to make a point someone wants to make, having one stat sheet is hardly egregious.

‘Actual football fans’ doesn’t mean ‘hates stats’

If we finished in Europe, a competent board would have still replaced him. Proactively get your ‘aspirational’ manager in place to lead from then on. They had a big talk of transition and stability. Surely getting into Europe would have met both of those objectives?

Of course that wouldn’t have happened anyway because the board and owners are just as useless and Moyes himself.
But they were looking for merely the hint of a reason to extend. They'll still try to dredge that up, mind, so missing out on Europe is probably just extra penance because these fellas just want a quiet, easy life.

You're right, we are always in Europe anyway, why reward that.

Because it would mean yet more Moyes.

Also, the qualifying positions for Europe these days are patently ridiculous. Allardyce would have got us in Europe under this system. Dyche got Burnley into Europe, Walker got Norwich into Europe. I think Koeman got Southampton into Europe. But they were all absolutely awful, utterly cack managers.

Just qualifying for Europe is not the great managerial achievement it’s being sold as!

And yet we still haven't done it for 10 years...

Boyland is one of the best Everton reporters around , he mentioned Moyes approach was to not develop youth players but to try win games with his preferred aged players didn't say it was an effective application. His description of how we played and especially how we setup against spurs was very scathing

The antithesis of Prentice
He take his salary from the pathetic - ergo, his opinion is null and void and akin to a four year old writing in crayons on a wall.

He’s a prentice disciple ffs.

Yeah, maybe I should have just said in my eyes it's ugly.

I'm to old school for today's football, I don't know anywhere that you'd be able to keep a conversation going once you throw a stat sheet like that into it.
Those systems are for the people behind the scenes, football is a game for your eyes and the chat is around the game and personal opinions. Not just a sheet of letters and numbers.

You’re right about the data being more of a ‘behind the scenes’ thing for teams though.

Issue is I reckon we probably have the worst data analysis team in the league. That’s said, it doesn’t take a genius to find the link between ‘we use the least amount of subs in the league’ and ‘we concede the most goals in 80+ minutes’

Hes done it ! We've won !

I mean I guess he is here to stay if AWB is coming in, so yeah I'm excited for another stable season of nothing, we just exist and I genuinely think that's all we will ever do. I'm defo dying before we win another cup lmao

the only slight bit of hope I have is that he hasnt been handed an extension.
There seemed to be a lot of chatter about a 3 year extension before the end of the season and that hasnt happened.
I've no idea how TFG like to run things but they don't strike me as the kind of operation who'd go in to a transfer window and season with a manager on the last year of his contract.
Maybe they are waiting for the end of season fume to die down.
Or maybe they're waiting till after the WC to do something.
Either way, if we get as far as the start of the WC with no extension, I'll begin to get my hopes up!
