2025/26 David Moyes

This is part of it. The signings looked rushed and the process inefficient, which is why I hope it's different this year with a much longer period.

The issue is whether we get our targets with the dismal finish and whether they play.
Not for me mate, the issue is whether we realise our mistake and get rid before it's too late and we squander more time and resources. Most managers will have some targets and the more time they have to prepare the better.

I half agree regards Alcaraz, although I'm not sure if he beats KDH to that central role, and the wide roles are largely spoken for too.

Iroegbunam shows promise, but tbh Gana has been comfortably first choice in that role even at his advanced years.... that may be about to change. Armstrong is the classic "neat and tidy" at this point (which is good for his age), but again doesn't displace Garner or Gana as first choice. Again shows great promise. Dibling to displace N'daiye? Really? Again, I don't think so, and tbh the snippets we have seen haven't even shown that much promise yet.... hopefully that will change. Rohl shows some promise..... but again, who is he displacing on merit when everyone fit?

Aznou is a baby and is being kept out by an established (if workmanlike) international. I also have no idea about his defensive qualities.

Grealish's, Branthwaite's and Gana's injuries have opened up opportunities for all of those, but our form has generally dropped-off in their absence imo. Of course it's a moving scale with time, and some of those younger players are still improving.

I don't think anyone is advocating for Alcaraz ahead of Dewsbury-Hall. But why not give him more than 5 mins to come on and affect a game when Dewsbury-Hall isn't having his bet game? Why not drop Dewsbury-Hall deeper and stick Alcaraz in from time to time?

I agree with your last point, I think if Branthwaite doesn't get injured against Liverpool, then we get enough points for Europe and everyone is feeling much better about life right now, but even then, it shows the problem, we have always looked good with O'Brien and Tarkowski as our CBs, but Moyes continued to opt for Keane as CB and O'Brien out of position at right back despite it looking worse and worse as the season went on.

Additionally mate, we couldn't have facilitated Moyes any more than we have by restructuring the club to his demands, so it's even more damning.

"Spent just enough to tread water"

"Living off scraps"

"Gamble shopping at that end of the market"

"Mid-level acquisitions and loans"

Are you Moyes' window cleaner or something?

Spent £129m (15th in spending league) to add to one of the lowest valued squads in the league, after a period of being bottom of the net spend league for over the previous 5yrs (scraps)..... Our biggest spend was £40m.... which is mid-level in todays market, and he hasn't been good enough to secure his place. Barry cost £30m and has largely been anonymous and KDH cost a bit less..... so that's a 1 in 3 success rate on those mid level signings (hopefully Dibble shows more next season). The rest cost substantially less with one loanie walking into the side. So I'd say yes, all signings are a gamble.

I see you're doing the old 'I'll talk about gross spend when it suits my narrative and net spend when it suits my narrative' thing. Very telling.

Win now mentality 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣

Do one boyland.

This is part of the ongoing discussion with Moyes and backs up the belief that he has zero interest in developing the younger players for the future and if given a big say in signings he will always go for the older experienced players.

He wont care what they cost or how it will affect the club in the long term, he will only be interested in the very short term.

We cant go on like that. Hence why the recruitment team (who this summer need to show their ability) should be left with the recruitment and Moyes, or whoever else may come in, act as a head coach.

Brighton, Brentford and Bournemouth take this approach and it allows continuity regardless of who comes and goes. Its the future and we need to be following. The difference is those clubs may always be smaller clubs. If we can get to where Brighton are then we have a huge chance to actually keep the players we develop, build something and start competing.

Polite reminder that we didn’t actually even get a RB last summer
Moyes, himself, said "it wasn't a priority". In ALLLLLLL of world football, he made 1 bid for a RB first thing in the window, inquired about another then decided a 6' 7" CB extremely limited on the ball was the best RB for the club.

He should have been sacked for that BS to begin with.

As has been mentioned, our options this year will no doubt be limited by the manager himself. No up and coming creative talent will see us as the best next step in their career. I imagine agents will advising them to swerve us too.

Again, I agree. Aznou, Dibling, George and to a lesser extent Armstrong will be testament to that, as he favours experience over everything else.

So Moyes spent £129mil (actually more than) and of all the signings he made:

KDH was almost exclusively used out of position. When rarely moved deeper was exceptional.

Grealish a highly expensive loan was used whenever available to slow the play down from last seasons style.

Barry was significantly used when not up to scratch

The rest of them as varying last resorts.

Not really sure he should spend again.

How do you even know how much they are improving? he barely plays them
