Not only that but Europe is seen like a poison chalice THIS year but.. And here's the kicker.. We should aim for it NEXT year! How come Sunderland came up through the playoffs and achieved Europe in 1 season but it’s not possible with a club like Everton.
If I were him, I'd get up on Monday morning and find the best young coach in Europe to come and assist me. The Moyes who came to us from Preston appointed Irvine even though he hardly knew him because he wanted the best coach. Alex Ferguson rejuvenated himself every few years by bringing in top coaches from different footballing cultures. Howard Kendall had the humility to respond to a crisis by bringing in Harvey as his new assistant and letting him actually change the way the team played. Moves like these are strengths not weaknesses. The worry is that the Moyes of today doesn't have that humility or ambition anymore. That he's become like Dyche, fears the new and would rather surround himself with old mates and yes men. Prove me wrong Dave!
Fair enough. But it was only a couple of months ago that we were dreaming of champions league. I don't think for me that if we then go on a bad run with a bad squad the manager needs changing. That's just me but totally understand the other point of view too. Personally I'd give him another year and see what happens. Maybe we'll get a right back and a half decent striker. I dunnoWith all due respect, it’s been a while since we had to worry about relegation. I don’t understand why people keep making out like we’ve had last day escapes the last few years. We’ve finished on 48 or 49 points for the last 3 season and this year 39 points went down, which is the highest number of points for about 13 years.
Who remembers him getting Adams in!! That worked out well
And a specialist set piece coach, we seriously need one.
Appointing new assistants was definitely a big part of Fergie's success and he made no secret of their contribution too.
Pep has done similar.
I wonder does Moyes have the enthusiasm or curiosity to learn new things at this stage![]()
A specialist next time, not some lad who knows what a corner isWho remembers him getting Adams in!! That worked out well
Me too. The set piece coach is a good example - he arrived saying he was looking for one, ended up appointing his mate Charlie, our set pieces got worse, so he let him go... and then didn't replace him, did he?? When he was appointed, he also suggested he was going to look at the first team coaching set up at the end of the season, but nothing changed there either. It's not just that he's failing in comparison to other managers, he's failing in comparison to himself first time round.

It is absolutely ridiculous to 'stick to your opinion' when your opinion has started looking very wrong and even more ridiculous to look down on those that have the courage to admit they might've got it wrong after all.
Very weird flex boasting you're a 100% fan boy that doesn't react to new information. Thats cult behaviour
We had a massive opportunity to make Europe and DM completely bottled i with his (mis)management. He also made a complete mess of integrating some very expensive/talented young players into the squad. So what exactly are the upsides of retaining his services next season??It's hard for me tbh. Moyes has steadied the ship and it's such a huge relief. I will always give him credit for that. I worry that if we bring someone in who completely changes everything as opposed to building on it. Some on here wanted potter, he played a massive hand in getting West ham relegated. Thomas Frank was terrible at spurs, Chelsea have had a nightmare with their managers the list is endless. In some ways there's some relief in having mid table mediocrity. It's obviously not want I want forever. But thank god we didn't have to worry about relegation this season. I dunno what the answer is. Just glad we didn't have the day west ham and spurs had today.
His selections are lazy and unchanging. His tactics are lazy and unchanging. His pressers are thorny and less humble.Me too. 12 months ago he pulled us away from relegation. That was the goal. People were happyIf my post sounded as I was looking down on others I apologise mate - that wasnt my intention, but I don’t take those posts seriously.
To a man, the majority of this forum thought he was brilliant 12 months ago and the right man take us forward in the future, 6 games ago we were looking at CL, people were excited and majority happy and saying the same. Now they want to rip it up and start again - we haven’t had a manager last longer then 18 months since Roberto and we know we’re this leads. If people thought he was good 12 months ago, or up to recently - now don’t - were they not wrong in the first place, if so why should they be right now.
As I said I admire lads who took the heat, when it wasn’t popular. I’m sure no ones to worried about my admiration or not.
As for me I’m ok with being wrong on the internet, I think whatever new information, is recent, we’ve had injuries to output best players, we’ve had a squad with one summer on investment for the first time in half a decade, my opinion isn’t stuck it’s just not based on recency nor reactive, I said at the start of the season expected us to be competitive for Europe - we have been - so my expectations were met - sure, we fell away, I expected growing pains, I expect more - but I believe overall in the managers work and ability to build - as I say my expectation was to be competitive for Europe.
I hope he sees it out, but I’m conflicted on his contract situation, while TFG take social media in particular quite seriously.
But results are important!
And I think many would even accept the poor results if there appeared to be a plan - developing young players for instance or an enjoyable style of play.
But we just seem to put out the same team even when not performing and then switch between Barry and Beto based on a coin toss.
Which is it mate, majority, or everyone? Quite a few wanted him out before the new season/Summer squad build/new stadium. If you meant majority, you'd be right, but maybe around 20pc wanted him thanked and ushered out back then. He was the very wrong call for what should have been a new and exciting period. If my post sounded as I was looking down on others I apologise mate - that wasnt my intention, but I don’t take those posts seriously.
