2025/26 David Moyes

12 months ago he pulled us away from relegation. That was the goal. People were happy
Obviously we wanted more. It looked like things were falling our way 6 weeks ago though much of that was due to under performance of other teams as much as Moyes and ai think frustrations had grown.
Again the goal changed. The bar is higher and rightly so. He then proceeded to talk us down and completely sh!t the bed, reminding everyone of his ceiling while being passed out by teams that have managers that dont talk their teams down when sonething is achievable.
Its that simple for me. Progress demands rising expectation and I dont think he can handle it. He did his job. Compared to Brentford Bournemouth and Sunderland managers though, he was pathetic when it mattered most this season

I appreciate I’m going against popular opinion and I won’t win a debate tonight or over the summer mate.

I appreciate people have the opposite view now - but I admire those who took dogs abuse for having an anti view on Moyes when it wasn’t popular to. I’ll take dogs for supporting him now and I’m alright with that.

Right now I believe in Moyes and I also believe change is wrong for the club right now - I explained my reasons for that to @LinekersLegs above. I’m happy enough to be wrong - but I believe what I believe and have conviction in it.

Apologies again I didn’t mean to be patronising, reading back I can understand I chose my words poorly. But also wanted to give you the respect of a reply.

I’ll leave it there, we’l agree to differ and I’ll bow out as I’ll just annoy people right now and I’m not going to reply to everyone’s posts. But at the same time to, I didn’t want to go missing as a Moyes supporter, just because popular opinion swayed. ;)

I just don’t take people who’ve changed their mind seriously to be honest, there are many posters here who didn’t want him here before he came back, then did when he was appointed, then canonised him last summer, loved him for the majority of the season, now hate him again.

A lot of people just react to results and or popular public opinion - to be fair there is a small minority on here who were a dissenting voice on Moyes all the way through and while as you know I’m 100% a Moyes fan boy - as much today as ever - I admire those dissenting lads as they have stuck to their opinion with conviction when it wasn’t popular.

@davek - took an awful lot of personal abuse and now look, everyone it seems agrees with him (except me) :p
There is no sense in that. It is the complete norm for opinions to change over time, That's why Managers have a short shelf life.

The only difference here is because you're talking about a man who already had an affiliation with the club, he walked through the door with baggage and split a fanbase straight down the middle before he even slurped his first coffee.

If people are now changing there mind's it's because they are looking at the now, instead holding the past as any kind of judgement.

Some time ago, in a report by Giulia, talking about the Club WC he said how wonderful it would be to have a fanbase like Boca Juniors' and about his plan to experience South American football which was interrupted when he was hired by Everton.
He should have come to learn that if a coach does what he does, he wouldn't even manage a fifth-division team.

We had a massive opportunity to make Europe and DM completely bottled i with his (mis)management. He also made a complete mess of integrating some very expensive/talented young players into the squad. So what exactly are the upsides of retaining his services next season??
Why should we 'happily' settle for "mid-table mediocrity" when a newly-promoted team (and the 'B' teams) showed we can & should aspire to better?
I get it mate. But how did we get that opportunity? Nothing to do with Moyes?I'm not saying I'm right at all. I just don't think a change of manager is always the answer. Again I'm not saying I'm right. I don't know the answers. I think sometimes things just click. I'm as frustrated as anyone.

We put ourselves in a decent position with some alright performances earlier in the season but really the opportunity we had was connected to a lot of external factors. Lots of bigger sides having off seasons, Premier League getting loads of extra European places - we were repeatedly dropping points and not being punished since new year without being punished.

Sunderland, Brighton and Bournemouth all getting European football is highly unusual, none of them on a massive points total and that has nothing to do with Moyes or Everton. Will be a lot more difficult for us next year.

Fair enough. But it was only a couple of months ago that we were dreaming of champions league. I don't think for me that if we then go on a bad run with a bad squad the manager needs changing. That's just me but totally understand the other point of view too. Personally I'd give him another year and see what happens. Maybe we'll get a right back and a half decent striker. I dunno
Our home record has been relegation quality for the entire season, not just the last few months.
Our away form saved us this year.
I don’t think many thought we had a serious chance of CL. It was a brief moment during a poor season.
