2025/26 David Moyes

I hope he gets a contract extension at the end of the season.

Firstly, because he deserves it, but mostly because he seems to upset the right people.
So you just want him to get a new deal to upses other fans, that’s bizarre.
I don’t t think he gets a new deal yet, they didn’t want to give him 2,5 yrs. so they will probably wait and see where we’re this time next season, he’s not get a bigger club or more money anywhere else.

For the new owners to commit 20mil on 63yr old Moyes and a shinny new deal, would be crazy

I just want what’s best for Everton.

And the other 200 games he played for them?
Moyes played him at CB (out of position), Pellegrini instantly played him as a midfielder and didn't do anything else even once, letting him establish himself as a pivotal player in the team/league (and gave him captaincy).

If Moyes had come back in and stuck the best young midfielder in the country as a centre back I think he'd be rightly lynched.

But giving him a new deal isNot wanting the best,This season isn’t over yet, will he Deserve a new deal if we end up 13th ??

He’s managed for 11yrs before and he was in his 40’s when he started, maybe he wasn’t so set in ways then like he is now. Some think he did a brilliant job last time, others including me
Think he did ok. We got into eurooe
4 or 5 times, but did absolutely nothing in Europe and had 22 goes in the domestic cups and got to 3 semi finals.

In that time Birmingham, Portsmouth, Blackburn, Wigan, Middlesbrough and Swansea all won a cup

Rice grew up playing as a centre back. He only started playing midfield after he made the first team.

What business? Who was available?

City went out and bought Guehi and Semenyo to try and win a title. Villa brought in Abraham and Luiz to try and claim champions league spots.

Not comparing us to them, mainly comparing the objectives and goals. An attacking fullback or pace in the side could make or break 3 points to get Europe.

Put it this way, if we were 4th at this point in the season do you think the club would find a player if we needed one in January? Its intention.

I have a feeling that part of the Moyes opinion is about the personality of the person.

I have seen a few posts stating but 'what if we finish 14th'?, 'what if the away form drops?'. Well, 'what if the away form doesn't drop and we start to pick up more points at home?', 'what if it swings a little bit in favour of home form but still picking up a good number of points away?', what if we finish 8th or above?'. What if?, what if?, what if?

The cliche how full or empty the glass is, I suppose.

It is defeatist argument, which ironically is their main argument against Moyes. That he is too negative, he talks us down, etc.

At this moment in time there are not many valid reasons to say that he has to be gone in the summer. We will see at the end of the season how this changes.

We are 8th, we are the same number of points from 6th as we are to 14th. It is a congested table so it could go either way, but we are currently on the right side of the equation, so a bit of positive thinking is not far from being OK.

I am certainly not a Moyesiah type person but I do like him, he has some big flaws, but at this present time he is a good person to have at the helm and our league position shows it to be true.

I for one, can’t wait for to get rid of Moyes and return to managers leaving every season, lower league finishes and the threat of relegation each season.

We have put up with this stability and “top half trophy” mindset long enough.

The soul and ambition has been sucked out of the club over the past decade.

Our big days out are getting to the ground early to cheer the team bus in as we battle to keep our premier league status.

We exist just to stay in the Premier League and do nothing else. If you dare to want more you get fans saying 'Be careful what you wish for'

UTFT!!

I think you're half right - it's not a defeatist argument, it's an argument made for someone who is defeatist and will most likely bottle it when it matters, play down our chances, "knife to a gunfight", etc.

He's never showed anything different, he won't now. It won't matter if we finish 10th or 14th, David Moyes will be David Moyes, he won't ever take a risk, he'll play it safe, we'll *maybe* reach a point where we can be solid or to get to Europe and we'll go out for a point at most at home against a relegation team, because it's David Moyes, and we'll bottle it. "Best of the rest" worked for so long, the game's changed, you have to try sometimes.
