2025/26 David Moyes

Only just seen this

Now i'm not usually fussed looking at these type of stats.
But....
Thats really damning that.

Pretty much sums it up for me. But been a problem for nearly a decade now...

We are 10th in opposition in boxes, but 15th for the decisive shooting stats shows up the main thing.

Fast break doesn't astonish me, somehow I feel like the players almost have blockade when it comes to play the vertical pass to create danger in promising situations, saw that a few times on Monday as well. Mostly we stop and delay the game.

I dunno - obviously it depends if we can get him for a fair price.

Regardless of the league theyre in, hes on contract until 2030, so theyre not letting him go cheap, so you're talking £30m min for a Wingers who's pace could drop off any time and will turn 30 the same year.

As a free agent sure, but hell he on £150k at West Ham, not a chance I want to throw money like that.

Need to not be reactive in the market, and be pro-active.

Someone mentioned Fatawu, if you develop him, hes worth the investment. Sides like Man City can throw money at ageing players... we can not.

well we tried to get him last summer. he is who we should have signed instead of Dibling, he is far quicker than Bowen and atm has 15 g/a. These are the types we need to be moving for not the Bowens or the Grealish's imo, certainly if we want to avoid trouble again. We need to avoid expensive PL players, The vast majority of the best managers/players came into this league with no PL experience yet this club/manager seems to think its vital for some reason its nothing but backwards thinking, one look around the league will tell you that, we have done it for years and its never gotten us anywhere.
At the same time context matters , as he was just injured for the majority of the previous season and Leicester wanted something relatively similar to the Dibling price maybe slightly less like low 30s and think that's why we balked at the potential risk. You never know if he's just going to fully recuperate or re-aggravate that injury so I understand why we made the move we did.

You simply have to take risks in the market now though and it was one injury (albeit a relatively bad one) We have fans still expecting to get massive fee's for the likes of Branthwaite who hasn't even been able to get himself through the last two pre seasons to start the season because his fitness has been so poor. Even then Fatawu has a far higher ceiling than Dibling simply because he has a better skillset, for one he has pace which Tyler doesn't. We never baulked at anything actually, Leicester wouldn't sell him as he was/is their key asset for coming back up but that clearly hasn't gone too plan and they look to be sliding even further to League 1.

Sequences of 10 plus passes being low isnt necessarily a bad thing. The more passes made, often can lead to players being out of position and more exposed to a counter attack

Don't lecture me on Sports Science pal as that's my day job, and its nothing to do with that its about the actual deal and the financial aspects of it. Like the Grealish deal it makes no sense and will cost more money than its actually worth, Bowen is not worth the money the package he would cost.
Grealish would be a very expensive short term sugar hit.
We might...if we could but find them...use his wages to pay 2 real players.
we dont want to be paying the 'Old Grealish'
We need to be finding younger versions - and pay them
