2025/26 David Moyes

Good signings are players who can do that, then we can flog for £100m.

See

Kroupi (19)
Rayan (19)
Igor Thiago (24)

Think we can move past signing "PL Proven", and now go for players who can improve us.

Short Termism is exactly what got us where we were with Moshiri
Nah, you need a blend. Grealish, George and Bowen would offer a mix of age and experience. Then you’d focus on getting in some quality fullbacks.

What was a more impressive and unlikely victory considering the circumstances in that time in your opinion?

Because anything less would mean my opinion wasn’t as crazy as you saying it’s the same as someone saying that Everton getting 4th is better than Leicester winning league.

It’s not gone unnoticed that you were clearly gonna use my thoughts on OT away as a way to say my thoughts are equally unhinged as someone saying us getting 4th is better than Leicester winning league.

I say that as you’ve offered absolutely nothing despite acting like you had loads in your armoury.
Here's the thing, boys, I could give you a list (of 8 results weirdly) that I consider to be better and what will happen is that you will find arbitrary reasons that they're less impressive. That would be tedious but if you insist, then we can go down that road.

Heres the list of strikers I'd swap Barry for:

Haaland
Thiago
Ekitike
Isak
Sesko
Gyokeres
Pedro
Woltemade

That's maybe it? Who else? The likes of Welbeck, Jimenez are more players I'd swap Beto for - an older experienced pro to go alongside Barry. But of young strikers, literally none of the better players in the league cost less than 60m with the exception of Thiago, which is just some completely unreal Brentford recruitment.

The issue is really that Barry hasn't had that solid experienced pro to share minutes with because Beto has been so awful. Otherwise for 27.5m he's been fine.
Barry is good, but we need an established starter to as well. He’s more of a developmental player at this stage.

I am actually interested, but as you said I don’t suspect I’ll agree with many of them.

But yeah, maybe we should go back to fairly critiquing the manager and the recent performances rather than going out of our way to caveat wins we’ve had and making it really weird.

You'd be talking 150k wages for Bowen plus a hefty transfer fee. For someone with no resale value that's crazy business
One of the golden rules of recruitment is you don't spend large sums on fees for players over the age of 28, then there is the wages. Not just that but people want us to put up the money for Grealish as well. Do that and tbh we deserve it too backfire on us as it shows we have learnt nothing, it would be utterly bonkers.

Times have changed. Modern sports science means these guys can play well into their 30s.

Maybe next time it’d be easier to not suggest you could easily explain why you thought me saying Everton being the only team in PL history beating UTD at OT with 10 men was equivalent to someone saying (I don’t believe anyone actually said this) that Everton getting 4th would be a better achievement than Leicester winning the league.

Surely we can agree on that?

Don't lecture me on Sports Science pal as that's my day job, and its nothing to do with that its about the actual deal and the financial aspects of it. Like the Grealish deal it makes no sense and will cost more money than its actually worth, Bowen is not worth the money the package he would cost.

Is problems in the team that we all kno but just csn get away from poor man management from moyes this season on several players. Alcaraz rohl Dibling aznou, that and well monday was playing in the midfield two holding mids and kdh in the 10 when his best games have been deeper or when in a three. I kno is limitations to the play becuase of lack of fb quality but we need to see him get more out of the squad

I have never understood continually playing players out of position. It’s just a complete bizarre concept to me

A team of players in proper positions will absolutely outperform one with a CB at left back or a midfielder at right back. This is regardless if they are seen as ‘better players’, should only ever happen to cover injuries.

Honestly drives me nuts, team looks like we’ve got about 8 players out injured the way it’s put together

This is why I was griping about missing opportunities to maximize points over the holidays when played lower level teams on paper. We have a treacherous run in of games approaching
