2025/26 David Moyes

Yes but the team is miles better compared to what Lampard hard. The reason Moyes is here is to kick us on, that’s why he’s got the job and paid very well on top. So because it’s been awful for years, that a free pass

I agree with that mate, but like I said, unlike the others he's got the wins away to supplement the poor home form. Even with a much better squad I don't think it's something that is changed right away, that sense of anxiety amongst players and fans alike when we're holding on to a lead... the almost apathy that we won't win once we go a goal down... it's all connected, it's probably been made harder with moving to the new ground. The atmosphere has taken a hit since, I think we'll find our way again, but it's defo had an effect imo.

The frustration is that he doesn’t take advantage of the opportunities he makes for himself. So over the course of the season we’ll probably finish somewhere 9-12th and we can all say it’s progress which it is but you’ll look back over the fixtures and see that fantastic away wins at Bournemouth United Forest were matched with dropping points at home to Brentford West Ham, away to Leeds and Burnley, and getting zero points from Chelsea Arsenal City Liverpool Spurs Newcastle scoring only one goal.
I don't think this is a fair criticism. We win often win games we are expected to win, we sometimes drop points unexpectedly, we sometimes win points unexpectedly. That's pretty much the same for every team in the league. The frequency with which the unexpected results happen is almost entirely down to budget. The high budget teams tend to be more consistent. But even teams like City and Arsenal can win one week away from home against a top 6 rival and then drop points against a minnow. Every game is a unique event. If we score the first goal against Newcastle, Spurs, Brentford, Leeds or Burnley then I think we win all of those games and we did have opportunities/periods of good play at the start of each of those games. Similarly, we could easily have lost home and away to Forest, home to Brighton, home to Palace, home to Fulham etc. Football results at the top level are decided by fine margins.

I still think there is lots of work/recruitment to do. Its hard to just change your style at home to how we play away. The reason we've as many points away from home is because nobody contests if we sit deep and soak up pressure. A Home crowd aren't going to be as patient. They want you on the front foot and rightly so. I dont think we're good enough still to give teams pitch and space. When our back four isnt protected as much as it is away from home you can see the problems.
It would help as well if the club went out and bought decent fullbacks. The last time Everton were really good at home is when they had baines ploughing down the left and a younger coleman.
We've roughly as many points away as liverpool villa and chelsea. Home form, no. Thats where the bit of quality makes the difference. We havent got that.

While I’d love a young fresh manager with great ideas playing attractive football is their anyone out there doing that? And despite what you think of Moyes he’s doing a decent job, look at West Ham had 2 managers since him a lot of our fans would have had them I never fancied potter but maybe NES I’d have and they’re still not happy and in a real relegation situation. I will be glad if we don’t get Europe as it would be a massive hindrance without the squad, a solid summer window and near the top of table come next January add another signing or 2 and we wouldn’t be far off that’s the dream anyway.

I agree that 'if no Europe he is a failure' is harsh on Moyes but come on, top 10 finish is not asking a lot is it?
I don't think it's too much to ask at all, top ten is a fair expectation.

I'm just pointing out that this massive spend we had was not even in the top half of expenditures around the league, it was the 13th highest and our first investment for years for a squad trying to catch up.

Why do you rate Nuno out of interest? Failed at Tottenham and plays dull low block football so a worse version of Moyes in essence

Given a choice I would take Silva or Martinez back eventually but not now with the squad the way it is. That would be asking for trouble. Moyes is an ideal choice for the way we are at the moment.

It would be different this time. He'd be head coach not manager. There would be others in control of fitness which I think was his downfall last time.
His downfall was his 'idealism' to coaching especially the infamous quote of 'set piece goals aren't real goals so we don't practice them' Keep ideologues well away from our club please

Yes forgot about that but that is my point in a way, he wouldn't be in control of anything like that now. You have set piece coaches, defensive coaches, striking coaches, etc. He would literally be about style of play which I have liked watching Portugal and Belgium. I know they are better players but I expect us to have better players than his first stint.

Martinez would be coaching everything, he wouldn't hire defensive or set piece coaches because he's an ideologue who thinks he's some sort of pioneer in tippy tippy 'pure' football. Football has moved on now from that style as its all about pressing and high tempo now so we should look to hire a coach who has those principles as the base to play from

Then it won't be him then as we will be hiring a head coach after Moyes. Moyes had us by the balls which is why he got it. Managers are so last decade.
