Arteta - 1st choice centre midfielder in a champions league team ?
Yakubu - younger than crouch and a better goalscoring record than crouch - spurs got £10m for crouch

It's all about your own perspective.

Yes, Arteta is first choice in an Arsenal team that is a shadow of it's former self. And to be honest, he has hardly set the world alight has he? In fact, would he even walk straight back into our midfield? Not sure myself.

Crouch did not have a near career ending injury.

I can see your point on Yakubu, maybe he was sold too cheap, but Arteta not for me.

how can you even ask that, let alone deny it?

Ask any Arsenal fan worth their salt and they'll tell you Arteta has been one of their best and most reliable players. To question whether he'd get in our midfield rather than Osman for example is hilarious, he's shown himself to be a brilliant deep lying midfielder.

Yakubu was f*cking barren for us for over 18 months and wanted out, if we're gonna use old scoring records to prove a players' worth then Michael Owen going to Stoke for free is the bargain of the century.

Sorry, if you were talking about an Arsenal team from 5 years ago I might think it was a big deal.

The Arsenal of now are not very good. In fact, I would say if them and us were both at full strength there is hardly anything between the sides.

This wonderous Arsenal side that he is a lynchpin of actually lost to Bradford last week in case you missed it. They are above us on goal difference and are basically a bit pooh.

Not going to get drawn into an argument over it, but I think your use of the word I have highlghted is completely comical.

Why are you discussing the team, rather than the player ? Where they are in the league is irrelevant. Chelsea are third, does that mean Carrick is a better player than Mata ?

Arteta has been boss, that's coming from Arsenal fans who actually watch him week in week out. The fact is that Arteta would walk into pretty much any midfield in the country.

Mikel or Arteta ?
Carrick or Arteta ?

I beg to differ.

And I am discussing the team as well as the player, as the players in the team define the type of team they are.

Arsenal are quite a weak side these days compared to what they were. Hence their fans will cling onto things they would not have previously as their standards will have dropped.

An example being we all thought Marcus Bent was good once, basically as it was as good as we were being served up at the time. Do you get what I am saying here?

On the other point, the fact that the teams with the big budgets that actually win things did not even go in for him speaks volumes to me.

Carrick over Arteta every day of the week.

Obviously you think he is great, I don't, so no point in debating any further I suppose.

Yep, the one with all the medals.
