David Moyes rules out any January transfer

Nah, just managers at the fifth best club in the country whilst other worse managers and teams have.
He should have won something, he definitely should have come closer in his 10 years than he has. Two semis and a final is pretty gash considering the quality of the team he had/has and other worse teams with similar records.
If he can stop his teams crashing out pretty much every year to inferior teams it will be a start.

So he's not very good, but has built a squad that you think should be winning things off his own back?
Should also of been a lot closer than a final we lost by one goal with our best players missing?
Plenty of worse teams with worse records as well as the occasional flukey ones that you refer to.. How many teams have spent what we have or less and won more than one cup.. i.e not a fluke?
We're 5th best club in the country because of him by the way.

I don't think Moyes would be saying"yeah, i've got £4-5m to spend so I'll be looking about for players with 6 months left on their contract and getting them in for a bargain", no way. I believe our resident itk fox has said there will be incomings in January, so I would hardly give any of this a thought yet.

who's fox and what has he said?

we like nothing better than to bring doom and gloom. I imagine a couple of loans will arrive. But he has a point....buying players in january is generally not good value...

...let's just wait and see and stop all the friggin moaning in the meantime.

(a couple of defeats at the hands of arsenal/city/chelsea might force a couple of january signings)

I think some people just want him to stop talking the club down in the way that he does.

He constantly plays us down as the underdog. I’d much rather install a bit of confidence through bigging us up (and risk losing a bit of face if we were to lose) rather than continuing to pass us off as little old Everton who are happy just to avoid relegation each year, and are totally ecstatic to finish 7th or 8th!

Referring to relegation battles that took place over 10years ago really isn’t on IMO, and his record in the really big games does leave a lot to be desired, and I happen to believe that this ‘small club, underdog, relegation’ mantra plays a big part in that.

Who says its anything to do with money, maybe there are spends but not enough to impact on the quality of the first team, meaning bringing anyone in may be upward of 10mill+ to get into our team i.e. to do it "properly".

Football isnt played on SSN lads and results dont lie, we're unbeaten in the league in 8 - almost a quater of the season, we have cover all over the pitch. TBH id much prefer Barkley, Hitz or Kennedy, Velios, Duffy etc to come in then bring anyone in.

Bar a new keeper, im more then happy.

Anyway im pretty sure there will be at least a loan.

I find it hard to believe that Moyes can't find a central midfielder for £4m who could replace Phil Neville in midfield, never mind £10m. Pretty much every player in our team was bought for £5m or less, and Gibson was £2m. We were looking at bringing Ofoe in, Moyes wouldn't have gone for him if he didn't think he was good enough.

If the club can't find a way of scraping together £5m when we're pretty much guaranteed to be getting £20m extra income next season and have a chance of qualifying for the CL then it's just another confirmation about this board's total lack of ambitions imo.

Sadly that's not the case. The grief he got for not winning something after saying he had his best team was far greater than normal. Some people just don't want him here. 4th place and playing well or not.
They seem to think that because he's been here a while that means that he should have a better team than those that spend money as if having more time with less money to spend in some way counters getting money to spend.
I think we're pretty good against the big boys.. They being City, United, Chelsea, its the lesser clubs we seem to struggle with.
As for the relegation fghts its a generic term, saying your aim is 40 points as quickly as possible then see what they can do is just basics.
Its the first milestone. Once acheived you look at Europe.. Then CL.. Then if its still on the premiership.
If you walk to OZ from England there's nothing wrong with setting your first landmark as the end of your road. Doesn't mean your happy to end there.
Its a daft stick to beat Moyes with to be honest.

How on earth did you come by that assumption?

He's talking about major honours won, of which he has 0.

Ah figured it was referring to his average finish or something.. Didn't think he would be heading back to the dawn of time since the pro's are crticised for looking back beyond 10 years.

We read the same quote EVERY transfer window and every transfer window there is some sort of movement. Including last year.

it's de ja de ja de ja vue.

We will have 2 new players in January, nailed on. I will put a 5'er on it. ESPECIALLY if we are 4 or 5 in the standings.

So going off that it means that Pienaar was signed on the proviso that we sold one player (Rodwell) at a later date to pay for him and the rest went on Mirallas and Oviedo.

Any money left has gone on Pip and Dusty Bins new contracts.

How much did Oviedo actually cost ? Because i'm starting to get a little concerned he's had practically no game time over Naismith the free transfer who has hardly set the world alight.
