Dark times lads, what now?

I reckon being out of Europe in January will be a blessing.

really, really enjoy European fixtures, but I think you're probably right. it just leaves no time to try to knit the squad together.

think it's revealing that something similar has gone on at Milan - though obviously not so catastrophic - which also bought an entirely new team over the summer

Are you kidding, Janders?

Write the season off?

I wish we could as that would suggest lower top ten anonymity and near enough forty points secured by the time the daffodils and crocuses are out :(

But as it happens we are in the drop zone on merit, cannot keep a clean sheet for toffee and our strikers could not finish a pork pie or hit a cow’s arse with a banjo.

A recipe for unmitigated disaster.

Right now I feel EFC is in mortal danger and we are facing the most important seven or eight months in the club’s recent history :hayee:

No sir....we are in no position to write this season off.

And my only hope for the rest of this season is to see the Blues out of that darned relegation zone and staying out of it :pint2:

Sorry, let me re-phrase.

In terms of winning a cup (OK, we're still in the FA Cup I guess!) getting an automatic qualifying spot for the Europa Group stages / or better yet, Champions League; building on 7th place last year, or any sense of moving forward from last season, yes it's a write-off for me in terms of our aspirations before the season started.

But yes, there is a helluva lot of work to do, just to get out of the relegation places firstly, then stabilizing the club. I think we'll be OK...... :oops:but jeesh, I saw the Walter Smith and Mike Walker years, I never thought we'd get back to that stage again so soon, but, here we are.

This run that we're on can't continue for much longer, or we are going to be in danger of sleep-walking towards the trap door.

Sorry but it's all stems to selling lukaku and NOT REPLACING him. No goals = no wins.
Roms goals papered over the cracks last season. We can't be trying to score 3 a game to bag a win.
Think somebody worked out we would have been 20 ish points worse off without him.
The defence was slightly better last season, but these current players are two seasons beyond the best by date.

Replacing a like for like with Lukakau was going to be extremely difficult and Ron should have invested in the defence first and then a striker.
He did neither. He is gone, but bet he isnt losing any sleep.

As fans we are going to have to suffer these results until the next window and pray that a half decent manager can convince half decent players to join us in a relegation fight.

That's a decent team. Maybe Beni for Morgan.
Beni is nowhere near ready for the premier league mate.

Sorry but just because unsworth is rewarding him with a start doesn't make him premier league ready. He will be one day, looks a real talent but sticking an inexperienced young midfielder in the team over experienced alternatives is exactly why we are in this mess to begin with

It's not tho is it mate, playing experienced players who are way past their best is what's got us in this mess.

So it was an experienced right back vollying it into the top corner yesterday?

It's not the experienced striker up front who has not scored a single goal all season yet still starts every week?

To be honest even the fact we persist with lewen up front is basically eliminating our goal threat before we even have one. We have a striker on the bench most weeks with 4? League goals to his name so far, at least 3. He doesnt get a start over 29 year old lewen who this time last year was in our reserves. It is a major issue, we have a lad there who scored 14 goals last season in la liga not even making the squad yet lewen continues up front ? And we wonder why we have no attacking threat at all?

Most teams would struggle with the horrendous start we had. Our confidence took a beating─we do have a lot of quality in the squad, we're just badly badly badly missing Seamus Coleman.

I can't see where any improvement is coming from though. By the time we hit Christmas we could be well and truly stuffed.

Nah, this is just a confidence issue I feel. We have more quality than 13 of the other teams in the league. I personally would play Mirallas up front, he's done it before at Olympiakos and is pacey.
