Craig Bellamy

The thing is that Neville, Distin, Osman, Cahill and Saha are all in their thirties now. Howard, Jagielka and Arteta aren't too far behind. We're moving Yobo and Yakubu on, but we need to replace them with younger players who have sell on value. If we signed Bellamy or Keane the average age of our strikeforce (with Saha and Beckford) would be about 30. We'd need to replace all of them within a couple of years and we'd need to find fresh money to do that because they'd be too old and not worth anything. Plus older players tend to be slower and more injury-prone. Their wages are going to be much higher than players nearer the start of their career too.

We just won the U 18 league mate and have international players at almost every under age grouping - i take your point though which is why i said i would prefer one of Bellamy and Keane in addition to say someone like Connor Wickham or a Danny Wellbeck.

If we got hold of the Zog, Bellemy/Keane/, Wellbeck - i would be ecstatic - cant see it though to be fair.

They're not guranteed. Duffy, Barkley, Hammar, Mustafi, Dier, Hope could all flop.

We can't take it for granted that they'll make it.

Thats true, but you run that risk signing any youngster really, is it better to make your own or drop a fortune on others - if your going to use that startegy its important to see it through.

I appreciate that. We have to focus on our academy, and it's the right thing to do. But if 2 or 3 out of the current lot make it with us, we'll have done exceptionally.

In fact, i'm not sure what i'm getting at here. No to Craig Bellamy, I think.

Ha ha well two or three all ready have but i agree, if we get three out of that team we will be doing well.

On the Bellamy thing most reports seem to suggesat a loan, i can think of worse things in terms of risk and budgets - tbh im not really thinking of him as our main centre forward but rather if he gave us the option on the left of playing a 4-3-3 or variants, i can think of worse things.

Loaning Bellamy for a year could be very shrewd. I don't think I'd want us to pay a substantive fee for him at his age, though I do rate him.

The kids will be great (hopefully) one day, but the majority of them are way off being first team ready. We need a group of players around the age 24-26 to bridge the gap. We don't have too many in that bracket at the moment: Baines and Bily are the only ones that immediately spring to mind. Fellaini, Rodwell, Coleman and Anichebe are early 20's, while Beckford and Heitinga are 27-28. We don't want the likes of Distin, Neville, Saha and Cahill to all retire at about the same time and to have to rely on players who are still some way off maturity to see us through.

Bellamy would be a cracking signing for us, loan or buy , it's alright saying " oh yeah we need young players with sell on value " young players either don't guarantee goals which gives us less chance of competing for silverwear like Lukas Juketivich for example ( ****e) and the ones who are real quality end up at Barca , UTD , or Madrid for 25+ mill ,there aren't many Javier Hernandez's players about. If we have plenty of homegrown talent coming through which were all told we have , then Bellamy would be a major Addition , & he's in great nick too and wants to win everyweek even playing in friendly's

Any suggestions mate?

Ill be honest i think there is an awfull lot of over priced players around at the mo especially in England. Henderson, Gardner to be honest id rather we swerved on that praticular generation - granted there are some good young players about but they are all at CL clubs - im talking the Welbecks and Sturridges of this world. I have a feeling the generation of 22 -24 years olds in England at the mo is very overatted - defo not as good as we have got. I also disagree in terms of a squad overall, granted Saha, Neville and Distin - time is coming to an end but i wouldnt put antoher two seasons beyond them - meaning our U18 team will be hitting 20. Most of the Cahill, Arteta, Jags have another 4-5 years for me - i wouldnt panic.

To give you an example, if we sold 29 year old Jagielka for £15m and bought 24 year old Dann or 25 year old Cahill for about £10m, that would be sound business. N'Zogbia is only 25 too. Out of the other names in your signature Eagles is 25, Shane Long is 24 and Charlie Adam is 25. We might be able to pick them up for steep (but not Henderson or Jones level) prices, if the big clubs pass or are too slow to act. In three years time Cahill will be pushing 35 and Distin, Neville and Saha will have already retired. The players who we're buying now will be in their prime and the current U18s will be 21 and challenging for the first team as Coleman, Rodwell and Anichebe are now.

If instead we put a lot in to wages and possible transfer fees for someone like Bellamy or Keane, who might only have about three years left themselves, that becomes dead money and in three years time we find ourselves needing to find new funds to buy players in their prime (and at their most expensive) because the kids don't have the experience to grind out results. We have to take a mid-long term view.

With the likes of Sturridge and Wellbeck, I really don't see why their respective clubs would let them go. They're trying to skim off the cream of young, British talent to fulfil home-grown quotas. Why, when they have England U21 forwards, would they think it was a good idea to sell them? Where are they going to find British players of any better quality to replace them?

Wickham has joined Sunderland, damn.

Moyes will play with my wang before he plays with 3 forwards.

Bellamy wants to be in Cardiff to be with his family. His desire for that to happen was so strong that City didn't hold him to playing for them. Cardiff can't afford his transfer fee and wages though, so he's still officially a City player. The logical thing to happen would be for City to cancel his contract and let him join the Bluebirds full time. He doesn't want to be in the North West, whether with City or anybody else. Even if he did, after having bent over backwards to accommodate him, it would be a slap in the face to his parent club for him to ask to move to us. They'd veto it out of principle.

If that wasn't enough of an issue we wouldn't be able to afford his wages. According to the Echo he's on £90k per week. If reports are to believed Demba Ba wanted £70k per week, but it was too rich for us.

Bellamy's record at Cardiff was 11 goals in 35 games. Not too bad but, when you consider that he's dropped down a division, you'd expect his class to shine through. He ranked only number 25 in the top scorers list for the Championship behind David Nugent, Chris Commons (who moved in January), Kris Boyd, Leroy Lita and Marlon King amongst others. Ian Harte scored as many goals as Bellamy from left back. Yakubu scored as many as him too. Vaughan and Jutkiewicz were both only two goals behind.

Plus he'll be 32 in about a fortnight.

Why would we ignore all those obstacles and plough ahead with a transfer?

As much as i would like to see that on some dodgey internet site. I actually think Davey has been trying to set up with a focal point striker and two inside forwards/supporting striker who can drop deep for a while now.

Hence Anichebes Morph to the RW and no one having an idea what position Billy should play, i think he wants to play something similar to Malouda - Droba - Anelka/Kalou at Chelsea and have overlapping full backs.
