Oh, and in addition to his qualities as a footballer, he's probably a bitter, antagonistic and self-important arrogant twit that's not gonna see the fun in seeing out the rest of his career with us.

The fact he's played for every single other club in europe says a lot about this. That includes the RS.

And should i mention that he only scored 11 goals in 35 games IN THE CHAMPIONSHIP last year?

Adding to that he drinks and gets violent, with several court cases, the last one from just 5 months ago, tells it all. Red warning signs all over the place, STAY CLEAR they say.

With you all the way on this one.

He is past it, we already have a strikeforce of injury prone players.

And in addition he has the wrong attitude and I feel might have a negative impact on the team if things are not going his way!

We need to be aiming higher than has beens/never weres like Bellamy

Bellamy is 31, he'll be on mega wages, his attitude is suspect and he wants to be in Cardiff rather than the North West. Pass.

Personaly i think there is a bit of value to be had in the likes of Robbie Keane and Bellamy. Its a bit fool hardy to write them of as players in their early 30's. Granted i would like another striker in addition to one of the both preferably younger and in the Wickham mould - but thye have massive expierence, have scored in the premeir league consistently over the years. They are good options on our budget and the thing about Bellemy is he can also play as a support striker on the left - very usefull.

David Weir and Distin FFS.

That Odenwingie lid is hitting 30 as well.

He's exactly the kind of player the RS would buy. They don't care how much of a bellend the players they buy are. I'd like to think we're a bit different at Everton. Team spirit is paramount, and I think he would ruin it.

I would actually be happy if we signed him.

I feel that the debate is irrelevant however, since the article says that Stoke are in for him and if this is true they will easily out bid us.

Iam not quite sure people realise just how poor our chairman is ( BEGGARS CAN'T BE CHOOSERS) we don't have the luxury to pick and choose when it comes to quality, A younger version would cost prob 20 mill, so if we have a chance with Bellamy we should jump at it especially as we have a very good Und 18 s and good young prospects coming through the academy

I know what your saying, but i'd rather we dont waste our little money we have on "has beens" and maybe give younger players ago like Velios and Baxter etc. I'm not against the idea of signing Bellamy as i think he is a good player but i'd guess it would be an expensive package we would have to put together for a player who is in his 30's and with his best years behind him. We also needs to start getting the age of our squad down, their are a few players who are now coming to the end of their careers and need replacing.

The thing is that Neville, Distin, Osman, Cahill and Saha are all in their thirties now. Howard, Jagielka and Arteta aren't too far behind. We're moving Yobo and Yakubu on, but we need to replace them with younger players who have sell on value. If we signed Bellamy or Keane the average age of our strikeforce (with Saha and Beckford) would be about 30. We'd need to replace all of them within a couple of years and we'd need to find fresh money to do that because they'd be too old and not worth anything. Plus older players tend to be slower and more injury-prone. Their wages are going to be much higher than players nearer the start of their career too.

isnt that a pity, that team like stoke out bids us. :/

Stoke are one of the few clubs in the league without debt. They've had to pick up bargains here and there (Pennant, Etherington and Wilson) to build a side. It's rare for them to spend big on a player (Jones) but, when they do, they have more than one eye on what the lad could eventually be worth. They don't splash the cash recklessly. We're working towards being able to do that ourselves. I'd much rather than we kept tight financial controls now to manage our debt than to go spending money that we didn't have chasing success. Sunderland and Villa are both shedding players now because they overspent in the past.

Yeah I agree with what your saying also but strikers who put the ball in the net are very expensive , young players like Vellios and Baxter don't put the ball in the net , I agree with you the age thing is a problem but just the one position which where lacking a quick striker who can play wide who score goals , I think it would be worth it for 4/5 seasons , it's similar to like signing Distin he's got loads of experience and wants to win everyweek and although not much sell on value , for me could be the difference in winning a cup or not , because let's face it we haven't got great options up front or wide

I reckon most are well aware of his financial status, therefore that he can't guarantee borrowing, or make personal loans to the club....

The issue has always been the missed opportunities he's ****ed up to grow the club's finances irrespective of his personal wealth, and the shedloads of club money he's wasted over a period of years.

<Awaits the "imminent" sale of Yobo in two months time for £1.5M rising to £6M if Fenerbache win the champions league>
