People arguing about China’s dubious reporting, and the ethics of animal husbandry and slaughter in different countries.

We're talking about China because people want to know were this started. That's what folks do, inept decisions by our leaders that might have aggravated the situation are prescient. But the root of the problem is the biggest concern. One word. CHINA.

Just heard an absolute heart breaking story from a nurse working in a local hospital.

A bloke in his 40’s had to FaceTime his wife and kids to say goodbye. The hospital didn’t have a ventilator and he could not be saved.

If that doesn’t hit home I’m not sure what will.

Very sad indeed.
Heartbreaking.

Where was this?

I can link many practises from British farms and slaughterhouses as well. Cognitive dissonance is very much alive

I'm sure you can. I can too. But here's the difference. Our governments close them down because, ya'know they actually do have the best interest of the populace at heart. They aren't government sanctioned. So your cognitive dissonance. You want to talk about that?

Don't throw labels out you don't understand or won't own up to.

The government's close them down? Let's talk about that instead

LBC now listening is heartbreaking protective clothing for NHS staff is sadly lacking stokes of callers fetching tears to my eyes .."...it's so sad and pathetic that how they are getting let down by the ministers who are tellling us part truths ......
Cygnus has emerged amid the coronavirus crisis after three years ago it found that hospitals would run out of intensive care beds and mortuaries would be overwhelmed should a pandemic strike...

Absolutely right.

Multiply all the Chinese numbers by 20 or 30 and that's probably close to reality. The WHO should be ashamed of itself, but it won't be, it's the health equivalent of the IAAF

Indeed, and if anyone still thinks anything of the WHO they should see that clip where a journalist asks them about how Taiwan had handled this:

"It's inhumane the way they treat animals in China. I mean yeah I know we kill animals and eat them but at least we're nice to them before we do it"

Not much of a moral hill to die on imo.

Well it's not even the morality of it.

If the wet markets are found to be the source of COVID-19 - just as they were for SARS, for example - then something needs to be done about them?

I understand the reasoning of why they are there – people are poor and there's millions and millions who need to eat (all living in a small area). It doesn't make it right though surely?

Somebody in this thread is making it about morality though.
