Is triage starting in London lads, also the Telegraph are putting doubt on the official figures coming out of the UK. Horrible and devastating if true.

TBF the official figures are likely to be an underestimate *at the moment* because it’s only counting hospital deaths where COVID has been diagnosed by testing.

They are not including *at the moment* deaths at home, of which there will have been a lesser but still significant amount. They are keeping records of suspected COVID deaths though from them and when confirmed (via post-mortem testing) these will probably be added to the death toll. This isn’t necessarily the Government’s fault though, it just takes longer to get that info (for the body to be found, to be recovered by the police / funeral directors, for the PM to take place and for the Coroner to make a ruling etc).

The papers on the other hand are just - once again - trying to blame other people for their decision to hype the numbers every single day, even though it’s been obvious to everyone that because they are dependent on testing only they bear little resemblance to the spread of the disease, and also because of their role in putting the leadership we have in place.

...if everyone acts in a discilpined way.

It seems the vast majority are.

Was speaking to friends in Manchester and London yesterday.

The one in London mentioned it seems to be the same in terms of people heading out to parks and stuff, but the one in Manchester said the city is completely dead.

In terms of the 'stringent measures' people keep talking about as being brought in, I don't see how it gets much more stringent than it already is unless they have military/police on every street in the country to keep people locked in their homes.

The only major tool ( barring a big upramp in testing ) we have left is to shutdown all non-essential businesses. If it can't be done from home, and isn't essential, then stop doing it.

We can tweak some of the current measures, and enforce them more stringently, but doing so is unlikely to make much difference.

Indeed, and if anyone still thinks anything of the WHO they should see that clip where a journalist asks them about how Taiwan had handled this:

Haha I watched that. Absolute disgrace. Even Lord Coe would have been embarrassed by that... well, maybe not

The Eu say Apple owe the Irish Government 13 billion in unpaid taxes
Apple say the dont
The Irish Government say they don't
So I would say you are correct
Not only that the Irish government are spending millions in legal fees to try and have that decision overturned. That amount of money would likely cover the cost of this crisis, we are a small country with the youngest population in Europe that demographic should see us as one of the least affected countries so should cost us less to handle this than other nations. 13 billion would do and there'd be change.

It is the underlying conditions that is causing most deaths but it's being called death from covid 19.. for example if someone has flu and has a heart attack the cause of death is heart attack, but if someone has Covid 19 and has a heart attack the cause of death is Covid 19. There was a man in Germany who had a heart attack and died he was later found to be positive for covid 19 and that went down as his cause of death. I have no idea why anyone who dies with covid 19 is classed as dying from covid 19 when this method is not used with any other disease.

if he had not contracted covid 19 would he still have had the heart attack
You can get hit by a car and die of a heart attack from the shock
What killed you ,the car accident or the heart attack
