Out of curiosity, which animals do have business being on anyone's table?

Thankfully we live in liberal democracies or democratic republics. So if you want to eat bat, got for it. Just don't sell it to the general public

I can't make it any clearer than that. If you wanna sniff glue. Have at it. Just don't put it on a the shelf and tell folks it's going to cure your erection problems.

And this is the problem, superstitious nonsense drive a lot of these wet markets. Eating the skin of a toad what have you. That's fair enough. If you want to do that.

Just don't go peddling your charlatanism to anybody else and then starting a pandemic.

Happens to chickens, cows, pigs etc in this country and every other. Only difference is the value we place on certain animals. Not saying it’s right, just saying we do the same. Have to be careful where this goes. As some of the comments on Chinese eating habits come across as racist generalisations to be honest.
It raises the questions of how animals are treated the world over, hopefully going forward, this often ignored injustice may be higher up on people's priorities (though I doubt it)

Put your dislike of all things Tory to one side for a minute Dave.

China is where it all started and if they’re starting it all up again with Wet Markets, I think there’s a bit more than complaining to do, don’t you
Two wrongs dont make a right.

Honestly got no wish to mate.

I have no interest in that part of the world. It looks beautiful and I'm sure there's amazing parts - I've just never really had a wish to go. Not being ignorant of it, and I'm sure you can tell me why they do in those countries. I just feel it's wrong and inhumane.

Done New Zealand and want to do the Canada/US west coast in a few years. Beyond that, travelling (especially to south-east Asia) has never really been my thing.

People in poor countries eat whatever they can get their hands on to help them survive.

If you lived in a poor nation, stuck on a desert island etc. you would certainly cook and eat a rat if it made itself available.

I'm not going to link videos to this. But anyone who is vaguely interested, the videos are there with a quick google search. Come back then and argue that these practices aren't aberrant and have no place in civilized society.
I can link many practises from British farms and slaughterhouses as well. Cognitive dissonance is very much alive

This thread must be Johnson’s dream outcome. People arguing about China’s dubious reporting, and the ethics of animal husbandry and slaughter in different countries.

Rather than the U.K government’s actions and inactions.

There's a Corona politics thread though buddy
