You're confusing Nazi's with the German people. Here is something you should keep in mind. Genocides occur amongst the most civilized of people. The Brits wiped out over half of the Irish population.

I think - and doubtless you'll correct me if I'm wrong - that about 33 million people voted Nazi in the early thirties. The NSP manifesto didn't mention any programme of killing the Jews but it was clear what the direction of travel was. As much as I loathe British behaviour in Ireland, I think all but the seriously challenged would agree it isn't on the same map. Brit attempts to ameliorate the effects of the Blight were ham fisted but ordinary people in the U K did contribute to collections for the Irish. Stands in stark contrast to the Germans who took the work, houses, teeth and hair of the Jews.

Is the Guardian a decent source? I'm not familiar with it, but it says that 70% of those admitted to ICU are overweight. Which is something I hadn't heard being linked before.
There was one thing in that article that stood out to me. Well apart from me being 59, male and overweight. Eeeeklol

That is the number of deaths so far from people who have been treated in ICUs. that is 79. Up until yesterday, the UK death total stood at over 1000. What happened to the other 900+ victims. Have they died without even going through ICUs?. Can somebody with medical insight try and explain this because I find those statistics staggering.

Not medical expertise, but practical experience.

If the treatment is "just" being lobbed on a vent till you recover, that can be done in any ward with isolation ability. Most of them that means. Respiratory ones certainly, (and they are miles bigger than ICUs)

ICUs have not that many beds, (21 in my case), and patients with other issues would most likely be there. That, and most ICUs were probably close to full pre CV anyrate.

A senior US scientist issued a cautious prediction Sunday that the coronavirus could claim 100,000 to 200,000 lives in the United States.

Dr. Anthony Fauci, who leads research into infectious diseases at the National Institutes of Health, told CNN that models predicting a million or more deaths were "almost certainly off the chart."

"It's not impossible, but very, very unlikely."

He offered a rough estimate of 100,000 to 200,000 deaths and "millions of cases."

But Fauci, a leading member of President Donald Trump's coronavirus task force, quickly added, "I don't want to be held to that ... It's such a moving target that you can so easily be wrong and mislead people."

Look at the end columns and when each case was 1st recorded
One of the very damning things is that the USA and S Korea had their first case a day apart.....and took completely divergent actions.

The report itself, available at

says the data was compiled at the end of play on March 26th.

It also says there's a lag in the data of up to three days, so the numbers being reported could be for as far back as March 23rd ( though it's more likely to be the 24th or 25th ) when the deaths were much less than they are now ( maybe around 300 ? )

Also, yes , some people won't have even made it to ICU, especially if they've died as a result of a complication ( eg heart attack ), rather than something which meant they needed ventilating.
