There was a mistake with the figures that was quickly corrected.
You are assuming the virus strain is the same in Italy and that genetics and mutation has no part to play (evidence to suggest otherwise)
China still has the 3rd highest deaths
I think it is dangerous to assume the figures are wrong, although I no know any more than you whether they are right. What I do know is that the behaviours, policies and outcome trajectories are very similar across Asia. I'd rather learn from what they have got right over there than follow the route of casting doubt on them, it's too dangerous
What a lovely waste of paper.
How many people will touch this lettered instruction before it gets to the addressee, we are supposed to be reducing contact, not sure Johnson has dropped the idea of herd immunity at all...Would be good if there was a database that you could email back as read first before they bother posting it. 5.8 million pounds to tell me something that I'd have to been living on the moon to have not already known. That money would be far better used getting the NHS the protective gear they need.
Depends if you are comfortable with the idea of having an active role in allowing people to die unnecessarily. Many people will die through COVID19.I don't endorse this opinion by the way, and I wasn't going to mention it, but I've got a mate who has a property maintenance company (a small one) and I work with him every now and again. I'm a flat roofer by trade (although it's not classed as a trade and supposedly anyone can do it lol) He has a sister in law who is high up in a university (I won't say which one) and I keep my hand in if it's worthwhile doing it. Anyway, the lads sister in law wanted me to do her extension, spoke to her Friday saying I would get back to her when things had settled down. We got talking about the virus and her opinion was that it was like the flu because over the last few years we've had a flu epidemic and the weak die and the strong survive and this virus is no different but because it has become a pandemic (even though our death rate will be like a flu bug epidemic) it's over hyped.
Been looking at the stats on the worldometer. Interesting that as of this morning we only have a smallish number in serious condition which presumably means intensive care/ventilator. We have 163 whilst all the other big players or in the thousands. Does this indicate we are doing a good job protecting the most vulnerable compared to our peers?
I think he means globally, even italy suggest 5% of serious cases which i think is the highest. Not sure of the qualification for serious, icu maybe?Check back in 3 days.

O
What a waste of £6 million. It would be better spent on PPE for front line staff and the care sector. Absolute disgrace.
It's not a case of one is at the expense of the other, the two aren't linked. Ramming home the message to as wide an audience as possible time and again and by every means possible will save lives too. There needs to be strict adherence to the rules and it's vital everyone gets the message.
The two are completely separate and spending money sending letters is a drop in the ocean compared to the billions being spent in emergency measures atm.
The health workers need protection now and should absolutely be prioritised but linking this with that is ludicrous and ridiculous.
Surely this means France are going to be putting up a really big number of deaths in the next couple of days whilst ours should not be a huge number comparatively
