Been in a bit of pain last couple of days, I've got pleurisy on my chest but hopefully a few days of painkillers and it will sort itself.

I drank a couple of bottles of red last night so I can distract my chest pain with a thumping hangover, an unqualified success so far ha.

Hope you and your family are well mate.
The only red acceptable on this site!

Hang in there mate.

It's not saying that overweight people are more likely to get the dose, it's saying that they are more likely to end up getting it severely and end up in intensive care, 35% of UK are overweight while 70% of those in intensive care from Covid 19 are overweight.

I went through the link gain. More data needs to come in before anyone can make those claims. Same as men are more likely to get it, Age ranges and so forth. We even had Mediterraneans are more like to get it because they have close family relationships that group together. Which will prove false.

No-one knows right now because there isn't the data. And we probably won't even have that by the end of the year. This as an exotic unknown virus and there isn't any easy answers. The governments answer has been novel, untested. At this stage we just have to see the way the cards fall.

It's not a case of one is at the expense of the other, the two aren't linked. Ramming home the message to as wide an audience as possible time and again and by every means possible will save lives too. There needs to be strict adherence to the rules and it's vital everyone gets the message.

The two are completely separate and spending money sending letters is a drop in the ocean compared to the billions being spent in emergency measures atm.

The health workers need protection now and should absolutely be prioritised but linking this with that is ludicrous and ridiculous.

Doesn`t suit the agenda though.

It's been rammed home hourly, daily and weekly. A £6 million letter will do nothing to stop people going out - it's being encouraged by the government to go out for exercise.

Spend £6 million more on this..

"A crowdfunder to raise money for personal protective equipment in British hospitals has reached £400,000.

From what I read it's hardly money that was the problem but a lack of an organised strategy in getting the logistics right. The bottleneck caused in sourcing the equipment has meant we're in this situation not finance.

People should have got the message by now but some haven't or are ignoring it, it's amazing how some just don't watch any news or read online media and others that do still just don't get how important it is to stick rigidly to the guidelines.

You may have confidence that it's unnecessary I don't share that and think another way of making them sit up and take notice is a worthwhile exercise.

China is lying. They incarcerated the populace around Wuhan to stop the spread. Probably hundreds of thousands died, which again they are hiding. Grimly they probably achieved their goal. Their only worry now is foreigners coming back and re-infecting for a second wave. Hence the shutdown.

Recent figures suggests that a large proportion of the populace of the UK and US are overweight. However I don't think anyone is suggesting that to be an underlying condition. Fat, thin, black, white, Jew, Christian, young, old etc. It doesn't choose. You're just as likely to get it as I am.

Rather be slightly over weight fighting any infection.(Well aware of obisety before screaming Marys hallow) Those carrying a bit extra have far better outcomes...

And those who sadly succumb to COVID19 in the vast majority will have underlying health conditions. The achilles heel of western medicines. The outcomes for some people are going back 10 20 30 years. However, it is correct to protect our most vulnerable.

If it saves more lives it's an expense worth spending now imo, it has no effect on other issues, its a leaflet drop for a time of national emergency and has no effect on other priorities in this emergency.

Other issues will still be there afterwards but this emergency needs to be dealt with now.
It will also support any enforcement of such measures including in the courts because the argument of ‘I didn’t understand’ will be null and void.

Personally, I think it’s quite a sensible idea because as you rightly say if it helps keep even a fraction of the people in then it's worth the cost.

I'm not buying this, but doing the math 1.4 billion (china's population) - less 21 million = 1.5% of the populous -

If they managed to do this, surely word gets around, there would be pics of morgue, burial sites, whistle blowers etc.

But it seems they managed to do this without a leak but forgot to shut up telecommunication company or whoever these stats come from.

Maybe the Chinese phone farms have stopped for whatever reason or like others have said, people have turned their second sim off.
