A musical message from yer Dar or his mate. One of those. Relentlessly on topic.
One thing this crisis has really thrown up is the 'value’ society puts on "types" of jobs.
Market forces blah, blah, that society places on people doing jobs now which are absolutely essential but pay, minimum wage per hour because, its what the ’ "market’ says it must be payed has been proven a busted flush.
Health care workers and hospitial support staff, people who stack shelves, work behind a supermarket till, people who collect our waste, work in telecoms and utilities have proven how vital to society they really are.
Without them there would be literally riots in the streets, forget about hedge funds, sovereign fund managers, PR, advertising, i could go on and on , when the manure has hit the fan they are ultimately, meaningless jobs in a life threatening and real crisis's when we have been stripped to our bear bones.
Hope we all remember this when its hopefully all over.
We'll see. I work in a care home and we're paid minimum wage whenever we work mornings, afternoons or night the same. Overtime pay, after 35 hours is £1.00 an hour more, we got £5 an hour more for Christmas and New Year. People work 60 hours a week due to shortage of staff and they need the money. Invariably, mistakes get made and staff get rundown. There's not a hope in hell's chance my company will pay anymore than necessary.
There's a lot of 'appreciation' coming from the government and companies but we all know it's just insincere waffle

They have been warned and warned, and this is the result of laissez-faire myopia. Some of the most stringent state intervention and surrending of our liberty's, known in modern times. These issues are becoming apparent wherever you live. Whether it be NY, London, Madrid etc. It's unsettling and costing lives. And could have been avoided.
It pays to invest in your health care system, emergency services and so forth. That hasn't happened. We need to make sure it never happens again.
In no way do I condone these actions or advocate them in any way.
I'm loathe to suggest this. But speak to your fellow workers. Refuse to go in. You hold the power right now.
Exactly. Everybody has read it already and the letter hasn't even been sent! It's been on Sky and all the news channels, I'm sure they could also find a way to get it on as an advert in the prime time tv slot and have Facebook put a link to it on everybody's timeline. Waste o money.O
What a waste of £6 million. It would be better spent on PPE for front line staff and the care sector. Absolute disgrace.

This won't be unique, there will be plenty of opportunity to farm off public sector in regards to local authority responsibility in the COVID19 bill, just watch the mission creep! There's a lot of 'appreciation' coming from the government and companies but we in my company all know it's just insincere waffle
