I suppose to take some positives and hope out of this, for the vast majority of us, this will probably be, at worse a seriously bad dose of the flu. Some people have suffered this, without having breathing difficulties, or requiring hospital treatment. While there is plenty to be worried about, we all need to try and remain as happy as possible.Life still has to go on in some form, and we can't spend every minute and second, worrying about this.

Just been out for a walk with the missus for our daily exercise. First time we've been out for 3 days as we were gardening the last 2 days and that was enough exercise for my old back. The missus wanted to drive to a NT owned car park about a mile away, and then walk from there. But it was a nice day so I suggested walking the whole way. We passed said car park on the way to our destination and were glad we didn't take the car. There were only about half a dozen cars parked there, which isn't a lot for the size of the area and number of different walks the car park services. Each of them had a notice from Devon and Cornwall police slapped on the windscreens asking why they were out today and using these parking facilities. There was further information on them which we didn't stop to take in but I imagine that would have been threatening legal action if their cars were found parked there again.

Anyway, we continued on our walk which was extremely peaceful and took our mind off things for a while, and hardly saw a sole in the two hours we were out walking. In fact, the majority of those we did see were in the village where we live. It would have been far easier to maintain social distancing from these people had we driven to the car park and started our walk there. We only saw a handful of people out in the countryside and that was at a very secluded beach we know where there was a family of 4. We were easily able to maintain our distance.

I just can't help feeling that the police are making extra work for themselves here. Yes, break up groups of people who are congregating. Yes stop people driving 40 miles to go to a beach or other beauty spot. But where they are only driving a couple of miles or so to find a more secluded spot to get their exercise, where's the harm in that.?

How do said traffic police know how far said cars have travelled to the car park?

In general if you have to get in a car to do your daily exercise you’re taking the piss no matter how far you’re driving.

How about all the limited company frauds working these days that pay hardly any tax? Do the same job as me but get twice as much the whoppers. Get their tax hiked right up after this (as hinted to by Rishi).
Anyone doing that will also be losing out on the governments current proposals, as they would be paying themselves the absolute minimum payroll in order to take a dividend. Governent then only covers 80% of their payroll.

The story was removed.

The BBC still reporting it was a Corona death.

I would have thought the guardian would be a trusty news source surely? I see it's pending review now.

The thing is, a quick Google of the original doesn't mention heart attack either. Which makes the story a little bit more odd. Especially as the story essentially came from Facebook posts , even the bbc story is taken from that.

Tbh I don't know,. No answer to it, either it was or wasn't , can only get information from the media ironically.....

Fair comment.

But I'd say 90% of the people who live in this village are older then even me. Most probably can't walk very far. Most will be over 70 so need to socially distance, but also need exercise. You would have them walk around the village where there is less opportunity to socially distance, rather than get in a car and drive a mile to where they can socially distance to their hearts content.

The police around here will know that. It isn't like people were flocking there. The car park has enough space for maybe 100 cars and there were 6. And as I said it services miles and miles of footpaths and land.

People here aren't all taking the piss. They just aren't 26 and fit as a fiddle like you.

Telegraph....

”The scientist whose calculations about the potentially devastating impact of the coronavirus directly led to the countrywide lockdown has been criticised in the past for flawed research.

Professor Neil Ferguson, of the MRC Centre for Global Infectious Disease Analysis at Imperial College in London, produced a paper predicting that Britain was on course to lose 250,000 people during the coronavirus epidemic unless stringent measures were taken. His research is said to have convinced Prime Minister Boris Johnson and his advisors to introduce the lockdown.

However, it has now emerged that Ferguson has been criticised in the past for making predictions based on allegedly faulty assumptions....”.........

Well the 1000+ coffins already, and the 200 more tomorrow would suggest that he's on the right track.

Not that hard actually, they could do a check on the DVLA database to see if the car's local

I can't blame them for not doing so, they don't really have the resources to quickly do that, so it's much easier to effectively close the car park down.
I use this a lot with work and vehicle removal.
I also use it hoping to be able to grass on me neighbour one day.
